HAHAHA... I can't believe battery cost is even an issue when we're talking over 1000 hours of playing. Chances are you'll change the batter well before then anyways, just cause you figured it was time while you changed strings.

Blackouts use the same pots as EMGs. As for how they sound in the neck position... They do sort of sound like EMGs, I guess, in that they sound fat and huge, but I find they sound a bit more lively and dynamic.
