Konsta J.

Hey, I have this (love it) and was wondering about the best methods of cleaning/conditioning the fretboard

Todd B. ESP

Hi Konsta, We have some info for this within our owner's manual, if you need any further help, please email our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com .

Cujo

Just ordered it via Amazon @299 bucks(!!!!). While I await delivery. I was curious what other felt they wanted to improve upon with the basic instrument. As this is my first ESP and LP-style model, I thought the price, the brand and the reviews I saw were the selling points.

This is my first ESP guitar but I've heard nothing bad about the brand, quite the opposite. I've tried different LP styles from different brands in stores and owned by friends and I had concerns about their quality control (Epiphone and Gibson), the pride of workmanship and cheap parts. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

That said, I'll check out the forums elsewhere and see how others use these guitars.

Carl N.

Hope you enjoy it Cujo!

Jose Z.

I am very satisfied with this model, mine still has rosewood fingerboard, is a china made, I wonder if there is much difference with the top Korea series, letting apart components like the PUs, electronics or hardware.

Carl N.

Glad you're enjoying it Jose!

Matte H.

I am utterly stunned by the quality of this instrument given its price point. Whether it's Esp or the shop I bought it from ( Andertons UK ) this has been the first guitar that I can remember in a long time, and I'm including guitars two or three times more expensive than this that have come perfectly in tune and with no preferable set up required straight out of the box, literally. I had to do nothing whatsoever to this guitar except plug it in. I bow to you Esp. This is a serious competition killer, it's also my first one having tried everyone else's, and between you and me I sent back a PRS for this, because I was hoping it would be better...and it was...completely. Esp rules, and I play this with pride. I can only imagine how the E-II guitars play .

Carl N.

Hey Matte, thank you for all the praises!!  I am glad you're enjoying your LTD.  I'm sure you won't be disappointed when you get around to picking up an E-II

Samuel D.

Hi guys,

Just wanted confirmation of wood used for the top of the EC-256 BLACK as it is not specified in the description above (vs others) ? Do you confirm it has same specifications or any difference to expect (excepted visual) ?

Tks for your support,

Samuel

Todd B. ESP

Hi Samuel, There is no separate spec for the top wood because this body is mahogany only. some models have a quilted or flamed maple top, so for those models we specify a different top.

Muhammad F.

Hey guys! I’m from Singapore. And I understand that the authorised dealer for Singapore is Davis guitars. And I wanted to get this guitar (ec-256 black) but they did not have it in stock. So I asked them when will it be in stock or can I request one in. But they said they can’t bring in just one guitar. As they have to order in a bunch? Why is that so?

Todd B. ESP

Hi, thanks for letting us know your issue. I have forwarded your issue to our International Sales Manager in order to let our distributor know how to solve your issue.

Kishore A.

Hi Team ESP,

Greetings.

I am Kishore Acharya and I am from India. I want to buy ESP LTD EC-256 guitar and that guitar that I am getting in India - Mumbai is a China made guitar designed by ESP which is written at the back of the head stock of the guitar. So I wanted to know if this the authentic guitar as it is not a Vietnam made. Has the production of this particular model shifted to China? I want to be sure that I am buying an authentic product and not the Chinese fake copy.

Also I want to understand that the FM top adds a tone difference or the FM top models of EC 256 and the plain Mohagany body guitar of EC 256 will sound the same.

Request you to please help me with your valuable guidance so that I can make the purchase quickly.

Thanking you.

Best Regards,

Kishore Acharya

ESP Admin

please help me with your valuable feedback.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kishore, sorry for my late reply! Yes our EC-256 are currently made in China. Previously they were made in Vietnam but not currently. Please make sure to contact our authorized dealer or distributor directly to make sure you are purchasing an authentic ESP/LTD instrument. In Mumbai the authorized dealer is SoundMonk Musical Instrument Store - Andheri (W) Mumbai. Regarding your question about the flame maple top affecting sound, it should not affect the sound .The flame maple top is a thin veneer so it is not enough to affect the sound. Therefore either of the models with solid color or flame maple top should sound the same.

Kishore A.

Hi Todd B. ESP

Greetings.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am ordering my EC 256 Black colour guitar from the official distributor of ESP in India Nippon Enterprises Chennai.

Best Regards,

Kishore Acharya

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kishore, Glad to hear that. Good luck. We hope you will like your new instrument.

Miguel S.

i just bought this guitar around 2 weeks ago and couldn't be any happier with it, plays great, sounds amazing, is not heavy as a traditional les paul made of mahogany would, looks extremely awesome, the weight balance is actually great, the action by factory was set really amazing too, since i was a kid i used to watch guitar playes who had les paul custom guitars and having this makes me feel i reached to that point but is even better guitar i highly recommend it

Todd B. ESP

Hi Miguel, Wow, that's great to hear! Thank you for all your positive comments and we are so happy to hear you love your instrument!

Lucas L.

Hello, I am interested in buying this guitar, but I can't figure out if the binding is white or yellow on the pictures. Can somebody confirm me what the actual colour is?

Miguel S.

Hi lucas, i own this guitar and i can assure you that the binding color is white, the yellow bindings belongs to the ec-1000 series or the esp eclipse 2 series

Todd B. ESP

Thanks Miguel!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Lucas, the binding color is white.

I'm curious. I have this guitar but the flamed maple one and would like to know what magnets are in these LH-150 pickups?

Todd B. ESP

Hi JV, the magnets are ceramic.

Victor T.

does this guitar have coil tapping?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Victor, Yes this model has a push pull tone control. When you pull up, it splits the coils of both pickups.

Rahul R.

Thanks I got it and also Fm Ian nothing but flamed maple top ...everything else is the same

Jefferson V.

What is the difference between 256 and 256FM?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rahul, the best choice is to contact your distributor and let them know what guitar you are looking for. They should be able to help you out. Here is a link to our distributor page: https://www.espguitars.com/locations?categories=intl-distributors

Jose Z.

Has the black model a maple top too?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Joes, The black model does not have a maple top. Please note that the Flame Maple top models only have a figured veneer on the top. They do not have a thick cap of maple which you may be thinking of.

Joseph T.

Anyone know where I can get get a replacement for the gold pick up switch?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Joseph, You can contact our customer service team, or if you check online there are many parts suppliers. Here are a few: Allparts (https://www.allparts.com/) ; WD Music (https://www.wdmusic.com/) ; Stewmac (https://www.stewmac.com/)

David M.

Do all the 256 guitars neck wood look that discolored ?

Todd B. ESP

Hi David, I'm not sure what wood you are referring to? Is it the fingerboard? That seems to be the only visible wood for the neck. It has a slightly lighter brown tint compared to a dark rosewood but it can vary slightly. Recently most guitar manufacturers have switched from Rosewood to another type of wood due to  International Trade regulations and restrictions.
