after owning esp's and epiphones i would go ltd! better quality in my opinion
LTD is much better brand.
LTD, because I love it more than Epiphones, and the EC looks better IMO.
Go with the LTD, I own a Propecy Futura EX and while it's very playible by epiphone/gibson standards (those baseball bat necks) it dosn't come anywhere near the necks that ESP/LTD produce. Granted i like the satin on the propecy necks, but a bit of 400 wet-dry and a few minutes of careful wet-sanding sort the LTD gloss out.
the quality of epiphones, even the prophecy range is not as good as ltd's, so the choice is obvious! \m/
The 401 Series are all kick-ass in the price range :)
Hmm, they are really quite look like, but at least going for exterior I would choose ltd yet.
Having been drafted into using Epiphone at one point I always choose LTD over it.
I owned an Epiphone Prophecy SG for some time and I can tell all of the available models are great to play; the necks are thin and fast, the bodies are not as heavy as the EC-401 but they feel very solid and they have great sounding pickups just as the EC-401. Overall they are both great guitars, excellent for playing metal, punk or heavy metal, but you will definitely save a few buks with that hard case.
