    How to spot fake ESP

    Hey guys,

    Do you have any knowledge regarding fake guitars and how to spot them?

     Maybe guitar companies should start a database where we could register original guitars and verify their authenticity. I understand that, I his is extra cost but we have to somehow protect ourselves from not honest seller, specially when we buy used instruments.

      It looks good to me. A 2011 EC-1000. The tuners look to have been replaced.

          Hi Hector. It's a legit 2006 Eclipse I CTM. Someone replaced the gold hardware with chrome (not a look I'd go for) and the black pickup rings with creme (also not a look I'd go for.) They also added the pickguard and switch ring and swapped pickups.

              There’s some warning signs:




              • The dot inlays versus the flag style




              • The block ESP logo versus the script




              • The ESP stamp on the headstock looks off (this could be the photo itself)




              Now this all isn’t 100% a slam dunk “it’s fake”. There were 4 knob Eclipses around then for that model year, and it’s quite possible that model was a small run for a specific overseas market or something, but I would definitely use caution.

                  Nethan, almost all of the hardware on an ESP or LTD guitar is made by Gotoh.

                                      Serial number not looking up so is it safe to me buy it ? It have ltd tuners esp designed pickups and everything. But serial is not searching. I don't know why.
