Post Your Explorers!
Lets see these badass explorers you guys have! Mx's and EXP's
Heres my EXP-200. currently putting a new Bone Nut on it.
Thanks a lot I found it on an ad site by luck. It was in Germany. It was a bit of a gamble, I just sent the money. Luckily he was a decent guy and sent it to me. He packed it very well. It took more than 3 weeks to arrive. I had to go and pick it up from the customs because I couldn't wait anymore It is not as clean as it is seen on the photo. He used it live apparently so it has some scratches here and there. Nothing major though. It also has some notes choking on bends on the high E string, but I will fix that by adjusting the bridge. And then of course I will put new strings, polish it etc.
I am very happy with it. Next step is to find an MX250!
Oh and it came with the original case as well
I told him what I wanted from the get go. This was my second ordered KL so I knew everything I wanted except the inlay for the most part. As we got to about year out, we decided on an inlay and I just waited from there. It doesn't take 3 years to make, its just the amount of orders he has. As soon as he gets closer to making yours, he'll contact you and let you know. I made sure I knew what I wanted well before hand so he could get it done ASAP.

Cheers, thanks for the info. I wanted a hetfield replica either the flaming sun one or the chechen Petroglyph, depending on what wood examples he has at the time of building. However I don't like the flaming sun inlays he now has to do so I ruled that out. I ended up giving himi 3 options I'm deciding between :
James Hetfield chechen with Petroglyph inlays
A Black KL with Inlay to be decided (A stained quilted top, no gloss finish)
A Ziricote with inlay to be decided. (really like this one)
He said he would keep them all in mind when sleecting woods, and I've basically left him to it and just waiting for him to contact me. I'm heading to Vegas at the end of the month and wondered whether or not to take a flight up to his shop to check it out. I haven't emailed him about that yet though.
Yea the flaming sun I ruled out as well because he had to completely change the design due to James' not liking how close they were to his. I didn't like the new flaming sun design either so I avoided that completely. I would say it all depends on the wood. If you can, I would take a trip up there to see him. It would be nice to see some examples in person before you decide. Once you get your wood picked, then you can envision an idea/theme for that guitar.

Email sent, and he replied already saying I can go visit his shop. He said there is lots to look at there but not much on my particular guitars, so just looking at flights that work for me.
Awesome! Yea your guitars are a ways off from being done but atleast you can look at some of the woods of other guitars or whatnot and say yea i like this and this is going to be somewhat of what you want. For me atleast, before you can decide on any kind of inlay, I'd need to know what the wood is going to somewhat look like first.
ESP MX guitar is one of the most iconic guitars ever made, right? Let´s post photos of other artists/normal people playing it. I know this is almost a signature guitar, because James turned this into a legendary guitar, but it would be cool to see other people playing and rocking it hard. All I see on the internet is picutures of just the guitar itself
I remember Jesper from In Flames playing a black MX. Don´t recall of anyone else playing one.
Some wicked guitars in this thread!
