Can you guys pleeease add a Red Sparkle finish for this guitar
This guitar is beautiful, despite the very long wait to receive it (7 months), I am delighted with it. However, we narrowly avoided a disaster during the first attempt to play the guitar. Indeed, the volume knob produced unwanted noise when turned. Obviously, it dampened my joy a bit. Fortunately, I had some DEOXIT on hand to fix the issue, but dismantling the electronics to apply the product is not something you want to do on a new guitar. Another thing is that the middle pickup is set too close to the strings, making it impossible to play. If you watch Stephen's video presenting the guitar, his is not set as high, which is incomprehensible. Nonetheless, the guitar is a beast; the sound is fabulous, the craftsmanship is perfect, and so is the finish.
Are you going to make different colors I would prefer to see a camo or a metallic red as Step would call it Dorothy
I've owned this guitar for about a month, so I figured it was time I post a review.
I've owned countless guitars, but this is the first signature model. I originally had money down on the white E2 baritone tele, but the eta kept changing. Eventually I was told it would be over a year's wait so I went with this.
Pros: As with all ESPs/LTDs, it's built well. The finish is beautiful. It holds tuning well. The neck is nice and chunky for those of you that prefer that. I'm used to Les Paul's so I was pleasantly surprised.
Cons. The pickups. I just don't see the appeal of Fishman's. They are very mid heavy and present. I guess they would sound good, but even tuned down to B flat it's still very bright and high fi. Kind removes the lumbering quality you get from playing in lower tunings. I still dig an EMG 81. It's tight and focused but retains certainly qualities I like. But, I digress.
The setup. Every ESP or LTD I've owned has been playable out of the box. This one was setup like all the others. Here's the problem. This is a baritone 7 string, with an increased scale length, it requires lighter gauge strings if you're playing in standard. That or tune it down slightly to compensate. Because of this it was extremely stiff and difficult to play. I've since tuned it down a half step and it's better.
Hey,
I just picked one of these up. I love it, but I noticed there is a lot more tension than on my H1007. After reading the FAQ I noticed you use the same gauge for baritone 7 strings as well as standard scale 7 strings. My question is this: I'd like to tune it to B flat standard. Obviously it would need to be adjusted, but if i use 10-59 gauge strings and lower it a half step will that be acceptable? Would using the same gauge but decreasing the tension damage my instrument?
What brand pots are in the guitar ... I can't find specs anywhere.... Or can I use any all parts, fishman etc 500k in it? I wanted to keep it stock with factory parts if possible.
Are these still being made? Or are these just 2018 stock being sold still?
Wondering if the "molded" nut means plastic. And whether this may be getting an update or re-release this year. Otherwise, if it's no longer going to be sold (like the old satin black) I'll have to pick up!

I just bought one of these. Great guitar. Sounds amazing! Heavy AF too. Anyway, can I lower the height of the middle pickup to make it less likely to hit with a pick? Also, I ordered some new strings for it that have a .070 for the 7th string, will there be a problem with that gauge? Thanks!

Does this baritone come set up from the factory in the tunning that Stephen uses for his 7 strings on the self-titled and Saturday Night Wrist records?: G# C# F# B E G# C# or does the guitar come set up from the factory in B E A D G B E ?
-Thanks
We do not setup our instruments based on tunings for particular albums, this will come in standard tuning. You can view our string gauges and tunings on our FAQ section
I just ordered SCT607-B from LTD, in description specs, neck radius is 350mm and for ESP version is 305. Is this correct or typo?. I’m also curious if there is any difference in the electronics or type of pots/components since the pups appear to be the same? Thanks, can’t wait to play it
Most ESP instruments will feature a 305mm radius whereas LTD models, even of the same variety, will have a 350mm radius. The functions of the electronics will be the same between both models.
Is it possible to get an 8-string of this guitar?
Through the custom shop yes but not as a normal production model.
Looking into buying a used SCT-607B. Any advice on serial numbers, or what to look for to verify authenticity?
Hey Adam, if you need a hand identifying an instrument our customer service team can help with that, though they can't concretely verify an instrument without seeing it firsthand. They can be reached at customerservice@espguitars.com
What is the best tuning for this guitar on the "out of the box" strings?
Hey Stanislav, this will be tuned standard from the factory, you can see all of our instrument's tunings and gauges from our FAQ section.
Where can I order a pick guard for the older black model? Warmoth offers a T-style 7 string option but I’m not sure if it will fit. Thanks!
Hey Brandon, best bet would be to use your current pickguard as a template for a luthier to produce a replacement for you. You could always try the one from Warmoth but their specs could differ from what is used on this instrument.
Does anyone know where the signature models are made now?
Hey Joseph, we currently produce this model in Korea. However, we constantly monitor production standards at our various factories in Asia where we produce LTD models. Should we determine that a certain facility is capable of manufacturing an instrument to ESP's required standard or better, we may decide to shift production, or in some cases share production of a model, wherever that factory may be located. This instrument should be of excellent quality regardless of where it's made.
Man oh man, I wish this was still available in black
Hey Joseph, we still produce the ESP version in black
Hey!
So I don't really understand what a baritone is exactly. I see that it's a longer scale length, so will it be harder to play fast/ shred on this? Like are the frets drastically bigger and I have to stretch more? I'm a huge Deftones fan, but I know Stephen isn't that much of a shred kind of guy. So I'm a bit worried about buying this and not being able to do my usual stuff. My main guitar for reference is an EC-1000 Koa and it plays like a dream, but it has a 24.75" scale length.
Thank you,
Miguel
Hi Miguel, Yes, baritone refers to the scale length. For this model it has a 27" baritone scale length. This means that from the nut to the scale line (intonation point on bridge), it measures 27". Now compare that to your current EC-1000. It is 2.25" longer. So if you use the same string gauge and same tuning as your EC-1000, the strings will have more tension. The frets are not affected. There is only more space between each fret. So the main difference is the tension. For Stephen, I know he likes using the baritones because he uses a lot of drop tunings for 7 and 8 string guitars. So he is tuning down from standard usually. This longer scale length helps keep the strings tight and sound good. I would say that you can make some adjustments either with tuning (by tuning down) or with string gauge (by using lighter strings) that can make the guitar feel right to you. For example if you want the huge sounding low end but you also want to be able to play leads on the high strings then I would recommend using a hybrid set with 9 gauge strings up top and the regular strings from a 10 gauge set on the bottom. Hope that helps.
Thank you very much. I am usually a whole step down so that's a relief. I plan on purchasing this next month and I'm very excited.
Hey JC M, That sounds like a good plan. I think it will work out for you. Glad to hear you're going to give this guitar a shot. Please let me know what you think after you get this guitar!
What size of tuner stringhole, for 7th string? I want use 0.080 gauge, for F1 tune
Hi bucky,
String hole size is 1.8mm which is 0.07087”, so you have to enlarge the string hole to use 0.080” gauge.
what is the maximum string gauge supported
Hi bucky, We've never seen anyone try any string gauge that didn't work. If you select a reasonable gauge it should be fine. It really depends on the tuning you are going for. currently we use 59 - 10 gauge. You could put something up to a 75 or 80 gauge but I would only recommend thicker gauges if you are tuning down more than standard. Also keep in mind you will need to have the nut string slots filed out to fit the larger strings and you will have to adjust the neck truss rod and action/bridge & intonation.
Will the black LTD version ever come back?
Hi Colin, Not sure but it's a possibility. Not sure how long the sparkle versions will be available. Thanks for your comment.
Hi, may I ask if this is made in Korea? Thank you!
Hi Michael, Yes this model is currently made in Korea.
