NGD: 1993 ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Neckthru Reverse Moon and Stars Inlays

AWESOME SCORE!!!!

Original 1993 ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Neckthru Reverse Moon and Stars Inlays

This is not a "regular" first production Ouija, this one is the OUIJA HOLY GRAIL, closest thing to Kirk´s original Ouija.VERY RARE.This is the only one known, beside Kirk´s 2 of his own.2 more were said to be done, but one of them happend to be this same guitar in hands of an old owner and the other one in Mexico is clearly a "copy".Differences are: neck-through construction, exact reverse islamic flag inlays, different neck profile, different finish, different knobs position....this one is the REAL DEAL!

5 total neckthru reverse inlays Ouijas (including Kirk's two) were said to exist, but after some research I can affirm that one that is in Mexico is not from 1993, and is quite different (custom order with reverse inlays, but the inlays are not like Kirk´s original or Mine, the inlays are like the regular Ouijas, bigger and the moons are more "closed", different headstock signature, beside other differences). Alex from Guitarscollector, great specialist, affirms that one is a fake.

Anyway, I only know existence of this one from the original 1993 production, with correct reverse Moon and Stars Inlays, neck-through, etc, I´ve never seen the other one that is said to exist or have knowledge of anyone owning any of them.

Another dream come true in my guitar collection!!!!!

I will tell more about this concrete guitar later, as well as about some Ouija research I've done.

I had some also, I can't remember where and when I picked them up ...

Those are my pics when I first brought the guitar from Japan in 08. I don't know what I miss more, the guitar or the house.

HEY GUYS ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

The mexican ouija is A FAKE!

I can see is fake from 1 km with blinded eyes....come on!

Wrong logos, wrong graphics, wronk neck joint and paint, and..WRONG SHAPE of the body, of the headstock, of the control pot cavity...

all is wrong...is FAKE CHINESE COPY!

Rick how you can ask him to compare with yours?

ahahahahhaah

:-)))))))))))

I was aware of the Mexican one back in 2005. I think this was made in ESP USA and this is why the routes were different. There were no Chinese fakes of Ouija that were like that ever. I believe it was a one off made for one of the ESP LA dealers but can't confirm this.

I have pics and info, and I guess that this Mexican guitar was repainted with the Ouija graphic and also someone added the Kirk Hammett signature on the headstock

Not sure about the inlays, for sure they are different from Kirk’s original and mine, looks more like the bigger, fatter more closed moons from the bolt on Ouijas, but for sure, the whole guitar looks “weird”.

And the owner also told me he got it in a trade in a flea market and a lot of stories that make me really really suspicious about this guitar.

I have lot more of pics of the Mexican one, but they are private and can't post here. Look in this one I personally edited how wrong is the sun placed in the Ouija graphic, far away from the lower edge of the guitar.Even the body shape seems weird, along with the paint and the inlays.

I remember I was trying to get info and better pics from the guy many years ago and never got any more information.

In the 90's they did do a few of these neck thru ones besides the initial run. There was one at a guitar dealer in LA back in the mid 90's, I think it was Waldos? I've just been trying to figure out if those had the "Muslim friendly" inlays or not.

I don't like to use the term reverse inlays because it's confusing. The original Ouija since it was original had the inlays correct to match the graphic, they "reversed" them later when they did the bolt on run. They had to reverse them because muslims got offended by the inlays.

I know of one neckthru with "muslim friendly" inlays, and also a bolt on with the original "reverse" inlays, but what is only common to Kirk's original and mine (also confirmed by ESP Japan) is:

- Exclusive knob placement (you can see the 1 and two numbers in the graphic)

- Exclusive inlays, not ony "reversed" or "non muslim friendly", the moons are also slimmer and less closed, exactly to Kirk's original

And a couple "hidden features" I'll keep to myself so It can't be "copied" in possible counterfeits
