When a company like ESP Guitars hosts a sweepstakes or other giveaway-type contest, the winners are chosen very randomly. How randomly, you ask? Well, each entry is automatically assigned a number, and then the winning number within that range of entries is blindly selected without looking at the actual names or locations or anything else about the person who entered. We are big fans of fairness, and go out of our way to ensure that nothing affects the random nature of the choice of winner, be it age, gender, country of residence, and so on.

That's why it's never a guarantee that the person -- or in this case, people -- who end up being selected as winners will be really deserving or appreciative of the prize. However, we seem to be extremely lucky in making the random choices for people who are totally psyched about getting their reward, which was definitely the case with our recent giveaway sweepstakes for the two new LTD Signature Series models for the guitarists of Parkway Drive -- Jeff Ling's JL-600 and Luke Kilpatrick's LK-600. The winners also got signed copes of the band's latest album Reverence.

We asked both winners what they thought of their prizes. Jeffrey, who lives in Belgium, had this to say about the LK-600. "It plays like a dream, really really smooth and just sounds massive. You can get huge amounts of chug out of it and it'll just take the beating. The fretboard is just a dream for leads and solos as well, it has so much sustain thanks to the string-through."

It turns out that Jeffrey is also a big fan of the band's music as well.  "I've seen them live at some festivals. They always struck me as a super tight band, with an awesome live performance but it's only up until recently when they released Reverence that I got hooked."

LTD Luke Kilpatrick LK-600

The LK-600 isn't Jeffrey's first LTD. "I actually play drums in a rock/metal-band called Waiting For The Sunrise, but I do produce and play a lot of guitar stuff on my own. I love drums but I always felt I needed a creative outlet that drums couldn't give me. That's why several years ago I bought this second-hand LTD Viper that's battered and beaten so I could write songs myself. Just recently I acquired an LTD EC-401 and that one is just stunning as well. I'm really glad to have won the LK-600 though, because this 600 series still adds a little more in terms of quality, sound and playability. It's a perfect addition to my guitar collection and suits my more metal-focused work really well."

Pierre-Luc, who resides in Quebec, Canada, was a little more succinct in his response about winning the JL-600. "I really like my new guitar. The EMGs, the neck-thru and the finish are nice! I play mostly metal. I recently discovered Parkway Drive, their music is awesome and sounds really good!"
