MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund Message from Stephen Carpenter (Deftones)

This is an auction like one you’ve never seen before.

In an effort to help raise money for MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, ESP is auctioning this incredible guitar. Built by our luthiers at the ESP Custom Shop in Japan for Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter in April 2005, it’s an ESP Horizon Custom in black finish with Pearloid binding and mother of pearl ESP logo. The 6-string, 25.5” scale, neck-thru-body guitar, played and personally autographed by Stef himself, has a three pickup configuration including one Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB Humbucker in the bridge, an ESP LH-200 in the middle position, and a direct-mount ESP SS-120 slanted single coil in the neck. It also offers a graphite nut, Gotoh tuners, and a Gotoh tune-o-matic bridge with string-thru-body design.

The guitar will include a copy of the original ESP Custom Shop order form, and a letter of authenticity from ESP and signed by Stef.

Perhaps more importantly, the ESP Guitar Company will match the winning bid up to $10,000, and 100% of the funds raised via this auction will be donated in full to the Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. MusiCares offers assistance to people in the music community, offering services and resources that cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies. The MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund is being supported by companies including Amazon Music, Spotify, Sirius XM, Universal Music Group, Tidal, and many others, as well as through individual donations from people like you. Get more information and donate at https://www.grammy.com/musicares/get-help/musicares-coronavirus-relief-fund.

Again, be aware that a) this is a one-of-a-kind custom instrument with a very high value for serious guitar collectors, and b) the winning bid will be matched by ESP (up to $10,000), doubling the total provided to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. We thank you for your generosity in making this an auction that will help save lives!
