Metal at The Morgan Log House

Heavy riffs at the Morgan Log House.

about the song -

It was simply a creative music challenge, something to keep me busy musically and creatively. After seeing some of the videos posted on the All Access portion of the website, and Facebook I thought to my self "hey, I can do that! I'm going to do that!" With help from a friend that loves doing music videos for bands. This song is a short original riff piece that I wrote and recorded (guitar and bass) in Logic X Pro with Guitar Rig 5 and the super fun DigiTech Drop pedal to bring the tune way down low. Those riffs have been sitting in my head for a long time so it felt good to finally bring them to life so I can make space in my brain for another set of riffs. The drums were done with Toontrack's EZdrummer. A mixture of the Jami Morgan DOOM|CORE (Code Orange) Midi pack, and Lamb of God's drummer Chris Adler (Drums of Destruction) and some drums I edited and punched in on my own.

about the guitar -

In this video I'm showing off my most recently acquired guitar, the LTD-MH1001. This is my first MH guitar and I love it! I've owned, played, and toured with almost every finish of the EC-1000 for last 10+ years, but, switching to the MH wasn't a dramatic move. Actually traded the LTD-BK600 because that guitar was too thick and heavy for me. This is the lightest guitar I've ever played and its just as comfortable as the EC-1000. However, without the big flag inlays that are found on the EC's, I find myself getting lost on the fret board in low light. No big deal, there's always a learning curve when switching to something new. Rock on.

about the location -

from wikipedia..

"The Edward Morgan Log House is a historic house built c. 1700. An early owner of the house, and possibly its builder, was the Welsh Quaker settler, Edward Morgan, the maternal grandfather of Daniel Boone. Despite Morgan's Welsh heritage, the house is built in a medieval Germanic style. It is located at 850 Weikel Rd. in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973"

from morganloghouse.org

The land the Morgan Log House stands on was originally deeded to the Commissioners of William Penn, who granted it as part of a 600 acre patent to a merchant named Griffith Jones in February, 1702. Six year later, in 1708, a Welsh immigrant named Edward Morgan purchased 309 acres of land from Griffith Jones.  Morgan and his family became the first settlers of the property. The Morgan Family was among the earliest Welsh settlers in the Towamencin area. Among the descendants of Edward Morgan and his wife Elizabeth are the frontiersman Daniel Boone, journalist and broadcaster Lowell Thomas, and mutual fund industry pioneer, Walter L. Morgan.
