Metallica: "Hardwired"

Metallica, the most iconic of all metal bands, has released their first new music in eight years. It's "Hardwired", the opening track from their upcoming album Hardwired ... to Self Destruct, which is slated for release on November 18. The song is inarguably a nod to the band's early thrash metal days, harkening back to albums like Kill 'Em All and Master of Puppets, with all of the glorious high-tempo badassery that you expect from this legendary band. It is, without a doubt, classic Metallica, and we can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

While it's not easy to see much detail in this fast-paced video, sharp-eyed ESP fans will note that James Hetfield is playing on his new ESP Vulture Signature Series guitar, while Kirk Hammett has picked up his old-style V guitar from the ESP Custom Shop.

Let us know what you think about the new Metallica tune in the comments below!

Sounds great. Very reminiscent of Kill 'Em All.

Finally. Bass mixed in with guitars compressed nicely.

I think it sounds great.About time they get back to what makes them Met a llica...Awesome to see them with their Esp,s too.I could only add that their be more of a screaming solo out of Kirk..But hope to see a full new album from them..Rock on..

It's pretty good, but not overly impressive to me honestly. To be fair, I never really was into Metallica, I love Ride The Lightning, or lots of thrash to begin with, but not bad. Overall, I would give it a 6/10, just doesn't sound like anything new to me and Lars's drums still make me cringe.
