E-II BTL-4

BLACK NATURAL BURST

$1,799.00 with case

Formerly called “ESP Standard”, all ESP E-II instruments are created at our ESP factory in Tokyo, Japan, and are designed for professional players who accept no compromises in tone, feel, or reliability for their guitars and basses. The new BTL Series basses (available in the 4-string BTL-4 and the 5-string BTL-5) offers a set of extraordinarily flexible tools for sculpting the perfect tones for any genre of music. Available in an outstanding Black Natural Burst finish over an alder body with spalted maple top, the BTL basses offer a sonic signature powered by an Seymour Duncan SSB passive pickup set that’s paired with ESP’s own high-end active 3-band Cinnamon EQ system. The extraordinary versatility of the bass’s controls (volume with push-pull preamp bypass as well as balance and discrete controls for bass, midrange, and treble frequencies) allows you to use this bass for any gig, in any style. High-end component include a Schaller straplock, Gotoh tuners, a Hipshot A style bridge, and a bone nut. Includes ESP hardshell form-fitting case.

I can't see me buying anything other than ESP. I love my D-4 also Neil J, but just like tattoo's and beer, one is never enough. I would LOVE to have an EC 404 or a B-1004 in lefty.

Cody E.

Does this come in left hand? As well as right handed.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Cody, this model is not available in LH at this time. You will see a "LH availability" icon on our pages for items that are available in LH.

This is my favorite of all the ESP basses. I use it for my main bass on tour now. The new  Seymour Duncan  electronics sound amazing and offer more tone control than the EMG s have in the past models. I love this bass and I recommend it to everyone.

Hey Sean, Glad to hear this! Thanks for your review and recommendation! Keep rocking!

When will this be available?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Larry,

These should be shipping in June. Check back in a few weeks or contact a dealer for more info on availability.

Neil J.

Will there be a lefty of this and/or the 5-string?

ÆVAREX

Sadly it looks like esp is doing away with anything but the bare minimum for us left hand bassists. Plenty of lefty guitar models, really only 2 lefty bass models.

@Todd B. ESP care to chime in? Will there be anything in the near future for lefty bassissts besides what is currently available?

Todd B. ESP

Hi AEVAREX, Thanks for your comments. Please let us know which models you're interested in seeing in LH. It's always tough when it comes to LH guitars and basses. Although we would love to offer most models in LH, it simply isn't feasible since there are minimums we have to consider in manufacturing these instruments. That being said, if we are lacking in this department then it certainly needs to be looked at. Thanks for bringing this up.

ÆVAREX

@Todd B. ESP I understand the difficulties involved, you have to make sure the market is there. Maybe reach out to all your known lefty bass customers with some type of survey. Maybe you could compile enough info to point you in a direction for what is most desired?

Personally I'd like to see an F bass body from ash with a bolt on neck like what is on the B series. But thats just me.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Aevarex, Thanks for your reply. Some good suggestions. I also like the F body shape for a bass. Typically did well in a 5 string version.

Neil J.

Hi Todd,

I for one, as a left-hander, love my current LTD D-4 (very thankful that you guys offer something so great at such a good price), but if I were to upgrade, I would love the chance to get this (or preferably its 5-string variant) as a LH model. I'm in no hurry to move away from ESP.

Another observation I'd offer is that there are very few affordable options out there for LH acoustic basses - that too could be a beneficial niche.

I'm only a hobbyist, but hope these comments help.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Neil, thanks for your comments. Glad to hear you love your D-4 bass as well.
