Just bought this bass and loving it! Just had a question- in regards to the tone control/stacked EQ knob, how does it work? Is it an active treble/bass boost and a cut? Or is it only an active boost for treble/bass (meaning when the tone is rolled completely off the EQ is flat with no frequencies cut)?

Orion rarely plays his signature bass anymore. Lately I've seen him with a GB series bass. Not interested in his signature bass as a result.

thanks for the insight

Watch the In Absentia Dei show. He played the GB for all the songs in C# standard (aka all the songs that fit a six string guitar and a four string bass) and all of their A# standard songs (aka the songs Nergal plays on a 7 string that fit a 5 string bass) were played with this signature.

I've noticed this bass only has a scale length of 34". How does the B string hold up when being down-tuned? Have you noticed any floppiness when tuning as low as A? Am I better off trying to find a 35" scale for my 5 string?

As long as you have the bass properly set up you shouldn't have any issues.

Serious question - I have relatively small hands and fairly short fingers. Would the thin U neck be ideal?

Carl N.

Hey Tyler, serious answer - The thin U or even the extra thin U neck profiles would be a great fit for you but be sure to note the neck width when looking for a bass, as a wider neck may be more difficult to grasp for players with smaller hands. The only necks I find cumbersome to play are those of 6 string basses, these have a 54mm width at the nut as compared to the 45mm width of most of our 5 string basses.  Hope this helps!
