tested a new song with this guitar that I wrote for a band i'm part of and it shreds
Just got this guitar in the mail. I love it! A few things:
The bare knuckle pickup RIPS. Best pickup I've ever played.
Love the scale length, string tension is quite comfortable.
Setup was nice with low action right from the box.
A few downsides (really not with the concept of the guitar, but just some quality care type stuff)
I did not realize this guitar was made in Indonesia and not Korea. I guess I just assumed Korea given the price. My Korean made ec-1000 feels like a higher quality piece of wood, personally.
The volume knob scrapes the body of the guitar. Easy fix, I just pulled it up slightly on the peg.
I like the shape of the frets, but it showed up with quite a bit of excess glue on them/on the fretboard. Again, not a huge deal.
The only thing that really got me was a pretty good gash on the 24th fret. It doesn't affect playability I suppose, I guess I just expected more with it being a brand new guitar. Is this type of stuff due to it being made in Indonesia?
So I got my NW-44 in the mail today and there's a few noticeable things right out of the box. There's noticeable pen marks on the nut, and a a blackish blemish on the side of the nut. Also the tailpiece has a very faded golded corner to the point where it goes completely chrome. The last really noticeable issue is the volume knob has about 3 points where it changes sound. At 0 theres no sound, at 1 it's quiet, but at around 2-3 it just goes straight to max volume. Not sure if this is on ESP's end or if it's a pickup issue as I have no experience with bare knuckle pickups. Overall I am pleased with the guitar, it's just a few things keeping it from perfect. Hopefully nobody else has these issues! PICS included below!
I noticed the exact same thing with my pickup. Its a nice pickup, but there doesn't seem to be much dynamic. Is that just how hot the pickup is?
Bought one. Just waiting for it. I have been blown away by the quality of the E ii eclipse I recently acquired in a trade for a Gibson LP I had. I’ve been a Gibson guy my entire career, but these instruments are making me rethink that.
A full thickness body will be cool! Maybe the wine red version if this one does okay? Pleaaaase?!!
