The EC Series are great guitars. I have the 256FM and with a good setup it’s a great player. Fretwork is very good for a guitar in this price. Pickups are a bit thin and raspy for me so they will get changed.

This guitar plays on par with my Gibson Les Paul Traditional which really surprised me. It’s got a couple of higher frets but nothing serious and does not buzz at all with a medium low action and very little neck relief.

The nut action is set well, but the nut itself appears to be plastic and is roughly contoured with sharp edges and a lot of material above the strings. It will get changed to a bone or tusq nut and get a fret level and dress.

Overall a great guitar, especially at this price point.

Bought this guitar in see through purple, it’s very quickly become one of my favorite guitars to reach for in any situation. I was looking at Les Paul studios and this guitar outperformed all of them. Will probably buy the 1000 series in the same colorway when I have the money.

Just bought this guitar one week ago, absolutely amazing!

I just bought one in the cherry burst. Mine will arrive tomorrow. Boy are my fingertips going to be sore a while. I haven't played in several years but the hiatus is over!

Received my EC-256 two weeks ago and pleasantly surprised with the quality of this instrument. Flawless finish, nice job on the frets that are rounded and leveled but the polish could be better. Very comfortable to play thanks to its neck that stands somewhere between U and D, and very good sound from the stock pickups. Thanks ESP Keep up the good work on those affordable guitars !

Are these the normal ESP thickness body or are they the 'traditional' thickness? I really want an EC that has the thinner (i.e. non-'T') body but 22 frets, not a 24.

if you have any questions you may reach out to our customer service team at customerservice@espguitars.com or https://www.espguitars.com/pages/support

Iliana B.

I think the EC256 has a thin body. You can search it on youtube for better angles!

Jeffrey H.

That's what these are. The thin version with 22 frets.

Trevor H.

This really needs to be a lefty version in this specific colour!!! If not I will get the blue. Any chance the lefty could get the purple treatment?

Carl N.

thanks for the recommendations!

Christian H.

What model Tone pro does this model use?

Carl N.

These models do not use TonePros bridges, these will be OEM Tune-o-matic bridges

Alan D. D.

Just bought one at the weekend. Looooooove love love it. Already made me a better player (and I suck!) Brilliant action , brilliant tones and looks as sexy as all hell! The mistress I’m allowed...

Carl N.

Glad you are enjoying it

I just bought one two days ago. What a beast! I've never found a guitar that good at that price range. Very happy with is so far. Can you tell us how to decipher the serial numbers?

Carl N.

glad you enjoy it, the first two numbers will be the year in which it was made, hope this helps

Dennis A.

Any word on when these will hit AMS? Have one ordered and still waiting on Esp to send them out

Carl N.

It would be best to inquire with your dealer as to when they would be due to receive shipments

Dennis A.

I have and they are waiting on update from ESP

Derek McGrew

Dennis.  I'm in that situation now.. transparent purple,   this site shows I can click add to cart and checkout, no delay.(almost every other ec256 is delay till dated) but guitar center says something different every time I call..

Josten D.

Hi, any chance I could get the measurements for thickness of neck at 1st and 12th frets?

Carl N.

20-22mm hope this helps.

Tracy M.

Ex 256 fm see thru purple says lefty available but no where to change it on pre order?

Carl N.

Thanks for pointing that out Tracy, unfortunately this was discontinued in left handed.

Tracy M.

Bought this guitar in lefty arrived damaged from online. Loved it been unable to get another one. Hard to find lefty’s let alone in cool colors. Any way to order one in the see thru purple?

Carl N.

Hey Tracy, sorry for the trouble but this model was discontinued in left handed at the end of 2019.  Some dealers may have them on hand still though.

Debarun Paul

Is this guitar comes with ESP guitar bag??

Carl N.

Hey Debarun, this instrument does not come with a case or gig bag.

Tyger_Xee

*sigh*

Someday.

Carl N.

Hey Tyger, how about today?

Renato ESP

Hello, the top of this guitar is really a flamed maple or a flamed maple veneer?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Renato, The top is a real flamed maple veneer. We use veneer for most LTD models. Only a few are made with thicker top. It would not be possible to make a real thick flamed maple piece on this price point. But we do not use photo flame (image). It is real wood veneer. Hope this answers your question.
