EX-401

SNOW WHITE

$749.00

LTD's "400 Series" guitars are designed to offer great quality and reliability for recording and touring musicians, while still remaining affordable enough for the typical musician. The EX-401 is the perfect example, with a design that looks as powerful and aggressive as your music sounds. The EX-401 is a set-thru design, with the neck of the guitar extending into the body cavity for smooth and fast access to the highest frets. It has a mahogany body, a three-piece thin U-shaped maple neck, and a pau ferro fingerboard with 22 extra-jumbo frets. You get pro-quality components with the EX-401, including Grover tuners and an enviable set of EMG 60 (neck) and EMG 81 (bridge) pickups, providing an array of tones from buttery to edgy, in-your-face power. Available in Black or Snow White finishes.

Are we able to customize these at all by order? Say if I wanted Gold Hardware instead?

Carl N.

Hey Cody, our production models come just as they are listed.  ESP USA instruments have a list of options that are able to be selected through our configurator and ESP Custom Shop instruments are able to be built to your specific specifications.

I'm curious as why there is only 4 models available but like a billion models for like the eclipses? Do you guys make more options available based on what sells more? Just curious

Todd B. ESP

Hi Jason, Yes that's true. The more demand there is for a certain design, then there are more different versions available. I know how you feel, sometimes there are very limited choices in color for certain designs. Thanks for your question and hope that helps. NOTE: We have made some different design options for the EX-400 and EX-401 in the past. Maybe you can find something on the used market or new old stock, just a suggestion.

Xavier O.

Do you make any LTD EX with a Floyd Rose or would I have to have that done myself?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Xavier, we currently do not offer one with an FR bridge, but we have offered a 300 & 400 series in the past with FR bridge. I would search for EX-401FR and see if you can find any old new stock or used. If not yes you would have to mod a guitar, which is quite a bit of work so I would not recommend to do that. The main reason is that a guitar we build with an FR bridge will have a lower neck angle. You can put an FR on a guitar with more neck angle but the end result is you have an FR bridge that sits too high off the body and is uncomfortable to play.

Is there an option for a reverse headstock on these?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Rick, Sorry there is no option to have a reverse headstock on this model.

Moises S.

Why are these "Ex" guitars are made with maple necks and not mahogany? How does this affect the sound?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Moises, Maple necks are stronger and produce a more aggressive sound that is sharper and more focused. More clarity and more high end compared to mahogany.
