Is it possible that these specifications are changed since I bought this guistar with an ebony fingerboard, see the page of my supplier Thomann in Germany (sorry, I am not allowed to put a link yet)

And yes it does look more cooler than the rosewood .

Carl N.

Hey Edwin, not that I am aware of, these have always had rosewood fingerboards.  Might have been an exclusive for that specific dealer.

Edwin vd Rijke

Hey Carl, here you can see it for your self compared to the snow white model. Maybe the European version is different?

Carl N.

Hey Edwin, this might have been an exclusive for that dealer, no record of a build with Ebony coming in through our warehouse so you might want to check with the dealer you purchased it from to see if this was a limited run for their shops.

Can you guys please stop using paint shielding on all of the cavities? It seriously decimates all the high end clarity. I've had to remove everything in order for any pickups in this thing to sound playable.

Also, the solderless wiring system needs to be wired up properly. Make sure that the cable coming from the pickup goes to either of the outside pairs of lugs for the wiper of the volume pots. The middle set is for output only. I know that EMG's instructions says to do this, but it is wrong. Even Rob Turner from EMG explains how the pots work with outside set of connectors.

Carl N.

Hey Mason, sorry to hear of the issues you have had with this, shielding paint helps to create a Faraday cage within your instrument to help lessen signal interference.   If you need further assistance with this please reach out to our customer service department at customerservice@espguitars.com

As for the wiring of this instrument, our customer service team can provide a wiring diagram if you feel this has been wiring improperly but I should note that there are many different ways to wire an instrument.  The middle terminal of a potentiometer will actually go to the wiper and the two outside terminals will go to the resistance element on which the wiper makes contact.  Typically our Eclipse instruments with EMGs will have the selector switch wired to the center terminal(wiper) and the output of the pickup will go to the non-grounded terminal on the pot.  Hope this helps!

Is it possible to buy this guitar with different pickups (SH-6) and lower frets (definitely NOT XJ)? How thick is the body?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Jan, Sorry it is not possible at this time to order with different specs than we offer. They are built to the specs you see on our site. The total body thickness is 50mm. For your reference, a standard guitar body thickness is 45mm, and the "FULL THICKNESS" version of an ECLIPSE is 60mm.

Jan S.

Thank you. Ordered from Thomann, we'll see what it's worth

Todd B. ESP

Hi Jan, Ok. hope it goes well and you like the instrument.

booboo

Yup, Ebony, looks better and shows up the strings for those with wobbly eyesight - happens to us all eventually.

Dominic Uccelli

I tacked this onto a previous comment, but I can't help but feel as though an ebony fret board would suit this guitar better. The darker color works with the finish a lot better than the paler rosewood to my eyes. I also find ebony to be generally smoother which provides a nicer playing experience.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Dominic, thanks for your suggestion. That would look nice with ebony.

Dominic Uccelli

Honestly, if this model gets update to have an ebony board for 2020 or, by some miracle, later this year, it would definitely be my first E-II purchase.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Dominic, We hear you. thanks for your suggestion.
