Will there be an outline of a candidate for the command post? Football Association Strengthening Committee 2nd meeting on the 24th

At the first meeting, emphasis was placed on ‘a formal supervision system starting from the A match in March’

The Korea Football Association's National Team Strength Enhancement Committee (Strength Strengthening Committee), which aims to select a new head coach for the Korean national football team, will meet again this weekend for its second meeting.

The Football Association announced on the 22nd, “The 2nd Power Enhancement Committee meeting will be held at the Football Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 24th.”

This second meeting will be held privately without a media briefing.

The Football Association, which dismissed coach Jurgen Klinsmann on the 16th, reorganized the power strengthening committee to select a new coach and appointed Jeong Hae-seong, chairman of the competition committee of the Football Association, as the successor to chairman Michael Müller (Germany) on the 20th.

Chairman Chung assisted coach Guus Hiddink at the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup and helped the team reach the semifinals, and has also managed the K-League teams Jeonnam Dragons and Jeju United.

Also, the new power reinforcement committee members include Gimpo FC coach Ko Jeong-woon, Soongsil University coach Park Seong-bae, commentator Park Joo-ho, former Gwangju FC head coach Song Myeong-won, Sejong Sports Toto coach Yoon Deok-yeo, Gangwon FC coach Yoon Jeong-hwan, Mungyeong Managing Director Lee Mi-yeon, QMIT CEO Lee Sang-ki, and former Lee Young-jin. Vietnam national team coach Jeon Gyeong-jun, technical committee chairman of the Professional Football League, was appointed.

At the first meeting held on the 21st, the Power Strengthening Committee gathered opinions on selecting an official head coach ahead of the 2026 North, Central America World Cup 2nd qualifying match against Thailand scheduled for March.

He also said the majority agreed to vote for a domestic leader over a foreign leader.

Candidates being discussed include Ulsan HD coach Hong Myung-bo, FC Seoul coach Kim Ki-dong, Jeju United coach Kim Hak-beom, Olympic team coach Hwang Sun-hong, and former Gangwon FC coach Choi Yong-soo.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

If the formal coach appointment process takes longer than expected, there is a possibility that the World Cup qualifiers, which are about a month away, will be played under the 'temporary command tower' system.

Another obstacle is that most of the domestic coaches who are highly rated are ahead of the opening of K-League 1 on March 1st. The Football Association, which created the Klinsmann incident, may be criticized for forcing K-League clubs to make sacrifices.

Also, since this is the second meeting three days after the first meeting, it is unclear how much of the outline of the leadership candidates will be revealed.

This is because the plan that was solidified with a domestic team and official director may be completely revised.

An official in the soccer world said, “The first meeting was a process of gathering various opinions, so nothing was decided,” and added, “With the Klinsmann failure, the association will also take a cautious approach this time.” 19가이드03
