SD pickup Custom?

    Hi all,

    I recently purchased a Horizon with the custom/59 pickup set. What is the actual version of the Custom? I have a custom 5 in my Horizon E II that I prefer. The custom in the USA is way muddier sounding, I know the USA is Mahogany vs the Alder E II.

    You would have the Duncan Custom (SH-5) model. 

     

    Duncan has the "Custom" (SH-5/TB-5), "Custom 5" (SH-14/TB-14), "Custom Custom" (SH-11/TB-11), and the 59'Custom Hybrid (SH-16/TB-16). 

    You can go on the Seymour Duncan website to check out specs and EQ charts etc.  

    The short of it is:  The Custom series is essentially the same pickup with a different magnet swapped in. Custom = ceramic, Custom 5 = Alnico 5, Custom Custom = Alnico II, and the 59'Custom Hybrid = Alnico 5 (using one coil from the Custom pickup, and one coil from the 59 pickup).
