EC-1000 VB Pickups
I just bought a brand new EC-1000 Vintage Black, she is a beauty. There is an issue though. I noticed that my 81 is a bit wobbly in it's socket. Should this be normal? I have never owned a guitar with EMGs before. Anyway, I also opened the compartment and I saw that the electronics inside where soldered. As far as I know, EMGs are being sold as solderless for some years now. That got me into thinking. I did buy it from a very big shop... Is it maybe that ESP buys these kind of pickups for it's models so that they can reduce the cost?

Many people (myself included) feel that soldered connections have less chance of failure than the quick connect electronics. There's nothing to worry about there, it's probably something they choose to reduce warranty issues.
The wobbly pickup is probably related to the strength/type of spring used for the height adjustment. Nothing to worry about there, either.
