ENGL Amp Spotlight: Rockmaster 20 E302

"You like classic rock? Okay Boomer."

Hold up. Let's keep in mind that classic rock is where the forefathers of every single metal and modern rock player in the world created the tones that helped define the entire genre of heavier music styles. From Black Sabbath to Deep Purple to Led Zeppelin to Queen, and from Jimi Hendrix to Lynyrd Skynrd to Van Halen and much more, what the guitar players of the late '60s through the mid-80s did to get crunchy, powerful tones opened the pathway to all of today's high-gain sounds. And sometimes if you don't want to just blend in with today's modeled plug-in sounds that are quickly becoming generic and passé, the way to look to the future might be to look at the past.

Enough with the philosophy. Let's talk about the ENGL Rockmaster 20 E302. It's a combo amp, so you won't be lugging a separate head and speaker cabinet to the gig. It's got two channels so you can quickly and easily switch between its excellent tonal options. But unlike the amps of yesteryear which -- let's face it -- are often in rough shape and hard to keep working, the ENGL Rockmaster 20 E302 is a modern all-tube amplifier that incorporates contemporary features that let you do whatever you want and still take advantage of everything from buttery sweet sounds through headbanging crunch tones.

It offers a perfectly balanced EQ with Mid Boost, a switchable FX loop and a frequency-corrected recording output to make it the perfect partner for any classic rock sounds. From shimmering cleans and cultivated crunches to fat rock tones, the Rockmaster delivers mercilessly! With the built-in power soak, the power can be reduced to 1 Watt - which gives you access to living room-friendly volume while still driving the power tubes to get those rich, saturated tones you so desire! The Mid Boost raises those all-important guitar frequencies, meaning you’re guaranteed to cut through in any full band mix.
