August 29: Metallica Brings The Concert Experience to the Drive-In Theater

Remember when we used to go places and do things? Yeah, we miss it too... especially seeing live concerts.

It's still going to be awhile before large crowds can jam into arenas and stadiums, but Metallica isn't waiting for the end of the pandemic to bring an awesome live show straight to you. Instead, they've teamed up with Ticketmaster's "Encore Drive-In Nights" series for a special show at drive-in theaters across the country on Saturday August 29. Announced yesterday, Metallica is being featured for this one-time-only event where you'll be able to see a live show on the big screen. Per the band's Twitter feed...

"We’re bringing the Metallica live experience to a drive-in theater near you on August 29 with a concert filmed for the big screen, presented by @encoredrivein! Tix go on sale Friday, 8/14 with a Fifth Member presale on Wednesday, 8/12."

This week, the band is getting together at a top-secret location to record the show. Per the Tweet, tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday August 12) for their Fifth Member fan club, with general sales happening on Friday August 14. Per a press release, the show will feature opening act Three Days Grace, and the Metallica portion will feature material from throughout their multi-decade career. Tickets are $115, which admits one carload of up to six people, and will include four digital downloads of Metallica’s upcoming album S&M2.

As should go without saying, Metallica includes members James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, both of whom are ESP signature artists. Visit Ticketmaster to get your tix for this great opportunity to get out of the damn house and rock!
