Guitars in the LTD Deluxe EC-1000 Series are designed to offer the tone, feel, looks, and quality that working professional musicians require in an instrument, while remaining affordable enough for serious players. The EC-1001 Tiger Eye has a mahogany body with flamed maple top in the exquisite Tiger Eye finish, with outstanding black binding and matching black hardware. Other features of this guitar include a mahogany neck that features a satin finish on the back, with a Macassar ebony fingerboard and 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets, and a set of direct-mount Fishman Fluence Open Core Classic Humbucker pickups, with push-pull controls to select voicings.
I have by now received and tested two of these EC-1001s and truly love the different sounds of the highly versatile Fishman Open Core pickups. Unfortunately, both guitars were Indonesia-made and workmanship was not good, e.g. the pots and toggle-switch were inserted off-center in their slots which looked odd and the middle position of the toggle-switch wasn't working properly in both cases so I eventually returned them to the dealer. Is this model by any chance also still produced in South Korea and if so, how can I find out where to get a Korean-made model (someone noted having received one below)? I would love to buy and play this guitar - if properly manufactured ... thanks!
I finally got a new one earler today, and I got lucky and got one that looks just like the main picture here..the Flame top looks amazing !!
I have gone over the guitar and really nothing to report except its badass and ready to go..I did change the strings out to DR Pure Blues, they seem to work well for me on guitars that have bridges like these, and their tone lasts a long time..
I did take the battery cover off to load a new battery into it and it already had a hot battery in it so I sealed it up.and plugged it into both my EVH Stealth amps and all pickup positions work fine and sound like they're supposed to..I do like the stainless steel frets, the fretboard is spotless and not dry,but I did lube it up a little with the F-One oil,and wiped it off.
One thing i really like it the battery cover holes have the little pressed it brass threaded inserts so the wood doesn't strip out+ I have a lot of extra ones of these myself,so I will do the electronics cover, their is plenty of room..also I did but the rechargeable battery kit and I will install it tomorrow so this guitar will be set on kill, its one awesome beast !
The resonance of the mahogany body and flamed Maple cap sets off great overtones and huge chunk and sustain, even at the lowest volumes..its all the guitar I was hoping it would be,and OMG the clear finish over the Tiger Eye flamed Maple top is gorgeous.
Overall so happy I finally bought one,I was on a waiting list for 3-4 months but I decided to but other things for my car,but finally got it !
Thanks ESP !!
I just received this beautiful guitar this morning after 8 months of waiting, hallelujah! I live in France and the local distibutor chose not to sell this model, so I purchased it online in Germany and it is a korean model. Except minor scratches and some glue residue, the finish is quite nice, fretboard is smooth and the color is darker than in pictures. I did a short test and everything is working good, next step: explore the sounds of the Fishman which is new for me after several EMGs .
I've had mine for two days. Obviously, very easy on the eyes. The Fishman Fluence Open Core pickups are the sh$t. Truly three distinct and awesome tones out of each pickup. The classic PAF and 'Hot Rod' are great, as expected, but best of all for me, the 'single coil' voice is FANTASTIC! 'Funk #49' never sounded so good, at least from my hands Fit, finish, fretwork...all perfect on my unit. My expectations have been greatly exceeded, and they were pretty high after staring at the pictures for 6 months.
Well done, ESP.
