Lingard confessed that the reason he joined was because FC Seoul most actively proposed a contract. He said, “There were offers from many clubs last summer, but while other clubs only made verbal offers, Seoul put the contract details in writing and even came to Manchester, England,” adding, “So, I made the decision and did not consider other clubs.”

He expressed his expectations for meeting Ki Sung-yong, whom he had faced in the Premier League. Lingard said, “I played with Ki Sung-yong at Swansea City a few times in the Premier League,” and added, “I am confident that I will create synergy by playing with Ki Sung-yueng, a club legend, in Korea.”

There are concerns about his sense of play as he has not played since October of last year, but Lingard said there are no problems with his physical condition. He said, “There may be a lot of concerns because it has been a long time since I competed, but I knew that I would sign in January,” and added, “I trained with a personal trainer in Dubai twice a day. “I think he can improve his physical condition sufficiently until the opening day,” he said.
