    Solid vs. Laminent

    Hello ESP,

       I bet quite a few artists would like to know at what level do the instruments start having solid flamed & quilted tops vs. laminents? I always thought it was at the E-II, Original Series & Custom Shop instrument level...

    The older Standard Series and current E-II series guitars use a laminate top. The difference between the LTD and E-II (in this regard) is that the E-II guitars put a veneer over top of a maple cap. The LTD guitars put a veneer over the base body wood.
