Bass nut width
Bass nut width
It seems like the nuts of all neck-thru basses are 40mm wide, whereas those of most bolt-on basses are 38mm wide. Is there a reason neck-thru's can't be slimmer? I know that 2mm does not make much difference but I'd still like to know.
Hey Justin, most of our four string bass models feature a 40mm nut, however there are some exceptions that are 38mm. This isn't really a reflection of the neck joint as much as it is the style of bass. Our "vintage style" models like the GB-4 and the AP-4 feature a thinner nut to capture the general feel of a classic bass. These models do have a bolt on neck, however we also have several bolt on models with the 40mm specification like the RB-1004, F-204, and B-204. Generally vintage-type basses do not use set neck or neck through construction, however we appreciate this recommendation for the future. Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion.
