How does Black Satin hold up – wear and tear?

Hey guys,

Looking at black satin as an option but I was wondering about how the finish holds up over time. Does it hold up the satin finish or does it wear down on the front where your forearm rests? Just wondering. Thanks for the replies...

I have four satin finished guitars. It depends on a lot of things, but yes the satin does start to show wear. It becomes shiny in the spots, though it seems to be more sweat related in my case. This purple one shows the wear a bit better.

The previous owner of the black one below seems to have "polished" the finish. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the entire guitar looks like it's worn into the shiny spots like the purple one.

The other two are lighter color, and don't seem to show the shiny parts as well.

Ditto. I have an old LTD F-2005 and the upper horn is shiny as well as the patch above the bridge pickup.

Gives it character
