Any Information on this late 80s/early 90s M-III appreciated

I signed up for the ESP Forum because I'm hoping to find ANY back history whatsoever about the first guitar I owned (and still own). I'm including three pics I took a while back when it needed a serious new set-up.

My folks bought me the guitar back in either 1991 or 1992. I looked through all of the old ESP catalog guides from the late '80s and early '90s and cannot find this particular M-III model, with this headstock and H-S-S pickup configuration, anywhere. I've Google-d the sh*t out of it, but there are no images or anything approximating this particular configuration and headstock. A few months back someone was selling a modified version of it for an absurd amount on Reverb, but I no longer see the post. The only thing I've found online really that looks comparable is a black, maple-necked M-III with the single volume knob and H-S-S pup config on Reverb from 5 years ago, but it has the older ESP M-III headstock that they ended up re-vamping after a lawsuit from Jackson.

Any feedback someone might be able to provide on this apparent ESP enigma is appreciated. I wish I had a picture of the back of the headstock, but it says it was "Made in Japan" . . . if that narrows things down?

Thanks in advance.  (p.s., Yes, I am aware the fretboard needed some TLC.  It's looking pretty good these days)
