How many of you guys use a metronome to build up speed? It has really helped me a lot with speed passages in guitar solos

If you have any techniques to help build speed in soloing go ahead and post them below

Has anyone tried the Andy James dvd's? Have they helped you become a better shredder? I'm thinking about getting a few.
