Boost require battery?

    Hi, I have a 2020 ESP USA M - II, NTB FR "Cosmos" series guitar with alnico gold covered pickups. The tone know has a pull- push boost action, I'm unsure of the decibels produced. My question is, before taking plates off uneccisarily, is there a battery I need to change for that? A 9volt I'm guessing if there is one. Of course taking off back plates isn't a big deal, but thought I'd see if someone knew on here 1st. Thank you
