JH2/ESP explorer scale question

I took my stock ESP "custom" explorer for a setup as o wamted in down a step to D and sometimes drop the 6th to C, and the guitar tech said he cant get the intonation fully in as the scale is too short. I know Hetfield tunes down a step on the JH2, was the JH2 a longer scale neck?

also my JH-2 sounds fine in drop C
change your tech:p

Pushead

It's 24.75"

It's quite possible that your tech can't get the intonation dead-on with the guitar. One of my LPs had problems with intonation, and I had to change the direction of one of the saddles so it would travel further (the flat side of the saddle was toward the bridge, I had to turn it so the flat side was near the neck).
