    EC-1000 - replace gold hardware with black

    Hi. I've been thinking about replacing all the gold hardware of my EC-1000 with black counterparts. The gold coating has been wearing off for some time and cleaning it doesn't bring any of the gold color back, plus I generally prefer darker colors as far as instruments go.

    However, and here's the question, I'm not sure how the black hardware will go with the guitar in general, namely with the abalone elements and the cream-white binding round the body, neck and head. The EC's in the standard LTD catalogue with black hardware feature white binding, not abalone, so it's difficult to make the decision based on that.

    What do you think? Has anyone tried it?

    By the way, I've made a quick "simulation" in Photoshop, replacing gold with black.

      It looks pretty hot, but with all that abalone bling, did you consider going silver?  That might look sweet too.
