The only downsidesI can see with the epi is it is likely neck heavy.

I see you made your decision, if anyone else is interested, for what its worth:

I own a Epi Worn G-400 WC, although it is not bad for the price in retrospect i would have preffered either the Viper 256 or the EC-256.

My G-400 is fairly neck heavy, partially solved by using vintage looking white plastic tuner buttons which do help to shift the weight slightly for the better.

A bigger issue for me is the neck itself, the shape is a fair bit different as opposed to my (completely sanded) EX-50 or ESP FX Paduak. Around 4 to 5 mm wider on the fretboard, thicker at the back (Epi "SlimTaper D" vs ESP/LTD "Thin U") and to me the radius feels different as well (i have not measured this).

On a side note so far i have never held another guitar appart from the three mentioned, so to me the difference feels like alot but maybe to others not so much.
