ESP EXP?

Hi everyone \m/ first post.  Regular over at SSO (same name) but have been directed over here for specialist advice \m/

I've been hunting for ESP explorers for a year or so now, this has popped up on eBay uk just now.

Is it an ESP EXP? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=142094543480&globalID=EBAY-GB

The MX250 is set neck is it not?

Is it worth £1650 / $2150?

Welcome J_Mac.

You are correct, it's an EXP.  The MX-II (commonly referred to as a MX250, though it was renamed in the late 90s) is set neck and the MX220 is a slightly different body and headstock shape.

Three or four years ago, those guitars sold for around $1600 USD, but for unknown reasons they've shot up in price.  It's a higher price than I'd pay for it, but it might not be unreasonable.  I think you can still find used MX-IIs for around $2800, though, and slightly banged up versions for a bit less.  It's been a while since I've been in the market.

Cool thanks man

Yeah they don't pop up that often, which is why I'm giving it serious thought.  The damage does put me off tbh.  Will struggle to re-sell if I need to.

I'm sure I saw another EXP on Gumtree a while ago for about £1000 in better condition.  Might give this one a miss & keep hunting.

Do you have a for sale section here?

Pushead

No, not anymore.  People occasionally post things here, but there isn't a ton of traffic.  You're better off looking on SSO or Rig Talk or one of the Facebook gear trader pages.

Based on the images provided in the link it appears to be an ESP EXP model and the MX250 does indeed feature a set neck. Regarding the price it seems reasonable given the rarity of these guitars but it is always wise to thoroughly inspect the instrument before making a decision.
