    Hello, 

    anyone tried the ESP GARY HOLT EC (liquid metal) ? never tried the 89r EMGs , and what about the Floyd on an eclipse model ? 

    interested to know before spending the extra bucks on that !

    I have the 89 in the neck of my KH-4. I like it but to me it sounded better when I moved the push/pull from the master tone to the neck volume. The draw back is the bar grazes the knob with the pot pulled. I just read the description of the 89 vs 89r and believe they may have actually gave me an 89R cuz when pulled the coil closer to the neck is engaged. Anyway, I like it. It's not earth shattering, but you should enjoy the 85 humbucking mode. Depending on the guitar, the 85 can be on the bassy side but I like that.

    As for the Floyd I previously had a KH-3. Some people say it is tougher to keep them in tune on the shorter scale but I don't recall having any real problems but that was 20 years ago. On paper the GHEC looks like a good guitar. Do you have the opportunity to try before you buy?
