Hi, i notice from the pictures of the KH2, Floyd rose is mounted in some version by wood screw studs ( like on mine ), while in others, there is the mounting studs with the inserts ( exagonal type of screw ) .
why this? is a KH choice or what?
Depends on when it was made. My silver RZK has wood screws, all my others have the inserts and studs.
Mine did have wood screw mounting. Is a "custom guitars" stamped from 2000.
However some adjustment with string tension soon destroyed that so now inserts and studs
The holes had actually warped enough at the top that the insert could fit but the bottom was still small so the entire hole was made wider with a drill the insert glued in then the top covered up with dowel. It looks ok and the guitar is now functional again which is great.
The OFR brand switched from the flat-head screw to the hex/allen key type screws at some point. What came on the guitar was just what was available at the time. That's why some have actual-black and some have cosmo-black OFRs as well.
Anyone that made the conversion from wood screw mounting to the ex/allen key type screws?
That's a pretty common fix for fairly inexpensive or non collector guitars. You drill and countersink the threaded stud adapter just like a normal hard tail.
