About me:

Jamie studied music theory, guitar technique, composition and performance at the Musicians

Institute and graduated with Honours in 1999.

In 2000 he became a member of the Orchestral, Progressive, Thrash Metal band

‘Biomechanical’. Between 2000 and 2007 Biomechanical released 3 albums (2 of which signed to

Earache Records). The band toured Europe and America alongside acts such as Exodus, Decapitated,

3 Inches of Blood, Nevermore, DevilDriver and Shadows Fall.

Jamie started lecturing at BIMM Brighton in 2006 teaching guitar technique. He now teaches Shred

guitar, music theory, music teaching practice, pre-production and is Head of Live Performance at

BIMM Bristol.

From 2009 – 2011 Jamie had a Monthly column in Guitarist Magazine which covered technique and

phrasing ideas across a range of styles/ genres. This included the deceptively difficult ‘Devil’s

Trickbag’ feature.

Since 2010 Jamie has also been a monthly contributor in Total Guitar magazine where he transcribes

a large range of songs and provides video walk-through lessons for the ‘Riff of the Month’ feature.

Jamie’s current band ‘One Machine’ features a twin axe assault with shred veteran Steve Smyth

(Vicious Rumours, Testament, Nevermore, Forbidden). One Machine released their debut album –

‘The Distortion of Lies and the Overdriven Truth’ in 2014 and the critically acclaimed sophomore

album – ‘The Final Cull’ in 2015. In that time they have toured the U.K. extensively, headlined

festivals in Denmark, played shows with Onslaught, Nile, Vicious Rumours, Devilment, The Agonist,
