Hi!  What would be about the largest string gauge those Grovers/the nut will take without modification, or replacement?  Having issues finding specifications   Thx!

5 years since I have this guitar already and I'm a fan of ESP guitars (have also a 6-string bass). I can start with the conclusion that the price of an instrument does not influence its sound. MH-417 sounds much better than many other twice-pricier 7-string guitars I have tried from any brand. I've been recording with the MH-417 for quite a while, but I did slight modification of the pickups as I don't like the 81-7 (or 81 in 6-string guitars) on the bridge. The 81 is moved on the neck and I bought from EMG an 85-7X that I put on the bridge. One of my industrial metal albums has half of the songs recorded with this guitar - the sound is unprecedented and playability of the guitar is excellent! The final mastered same song from the previous link.

Glad you enjoy it and thanks for sharing!

What country are these models made in?

Carl N.

These are currently made in Indonesia and Korea, hope this helps!

I've owned and played this guitar for around 2 years now and feel it would be beneficial to share pros and cons about it.  The guitar is beautiful, and plays incredibly well. I'm a big fan of satin finishes. The neck is smooth, and feels great. The major downside for me was the volume knob placement. I had to remove the knob to keep my hand from hitting it while playing. This should be a simple fix. The next downside was the the nut seems too low on the low strings. Regardless of being setup correctly, the strings will rattle against the first few frets when played open, and have a large amount of fret buzz while playing across the board. This could be mine in particular, not really sure. Finally, the gear ratio in the tuners seems to be really low. A very slight tweak causes a substantial change in tuning. Despite the cons, the guitar is great, and I've recorded many tracks with it. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.
