Joining the expanding list of multi-scale guitars available from ESP, the LTD M-1000 Multi-Scale is a 6-string version of the already-available M-1007MS and M-1008MS. Multi-scale guitars make use of an angled fret arrangement to offer different scale lengths for the various strings of the guitar, allowing for optimal string tension, and has also been stated by many players to offer an ergonomic improvement for the fretting hand. The M-1000 Multi-Scale has a varying scale length of 26.5” - 25.5”. It’s a bolt-on design that use a “drop top” of thick flamed maple that’s bent over a lightweight mahogany back, and a five-piece neck made of maple and exotic purple heart wood, with a Macassar ebony fingerboard that includes offset abalone dot inlays. Top-tier components on the M-1000 Multi-Scale include a set of Seymour Duncan Sentient (neck) and Nazgul (bridge) pickups that were custom-made for ESP with a special angle optimized for the multi-scale design. A push-pull control on the tone knob allows for coil splitting, providing a wealth of flexible tones. Other components include a Hipshot multi-scale bridge with string-thru-body, and LTD locking tuners. Available in Natural Satin finish.

What are the dimensions of the pickups? Looking to throw some Fishman modern fluence pickups in there and seeing if any routing needs to be done.

Carl N.

Hey Rodney, these particular pickups were made for us by Seymour Duncan specifically for use with our multiscale instruments.  They have the same specifications as typical humbuckers but are offset in order to match the slanting of the route and to match the string spacing.  Safe to say you will need to reroute the instrument if you intend to use standard pickups within.  I would recommend having a professional guitar technician handle such a replacement for you if you are unfamiliar with this kind of work.  Hope this helps.

Hi, for a 11 gauge, would you rather recommend 11 52 or 11 49 ? or it doesn’t matter ?

Carl N.

Hey F, it would all depend on what tuning you are playing in and your preferences.  For lower tunings I would go with the heavier gauges .

sangwan k.

is it available for 080 gauge string?

Carl N.

Hey Sangwan, nearly any strings can be used with this but you should be mindful that changing string gauge will require your instrument to be setup in order to accommodate the new strings.  Always recommended to have a professional take care of this for you if you are unfamiliar with the process.

What's the radius of the fretboard? Looks amazing!

Todd B. ESP

Hi, It's listed in the specs: 350mm.

Marc H.

Hello, are these guitars taking over from the 27" baritones?

I've been after one for ages..... (27" baritone)

Todd B. ESP

Hi Marc, Sorry I don't understand your question. These Multiscale guitars are different than a straight baritone scale guitar. We still do offer regular baritone guitars, but not that many currently. Which one have you been after? M-series 27" Baritone 6 string?

Marc H.

Sorry, basically I have the mh 400 B in satin black, I've been looking for the same guitar but possibly a different, but I can't seem to find them anywhere

Todd B. ESP

Hi Marc, I understand now. We still offer the MH-400B, but there are not a lot of other 6 string baritones. You can search all our combined baritone/7/8 strings on this link:
