David A.

If I was going to change the middle humbucker would it be better to use a neck or bridge pick up for the replacement? May be a silly question but I'm curious.

Carl N.

Hey David, currently these have a neck pickup installed in the middle position but you can replace this with any humbucker, would just depend on your tonal preferences.

A throw back to the 90s thank you for bringing it back esp/Ltd like bringing back my childhood. Can’t wait for you to bring back the sky blue. Here’s a Stephen Carpenter story. My 03 Silverado SS was stolen, cops recovered it the next day in pixley CA. The car was straight stripped, but the thief’s left me two things my child support receipts to my ex and a Stephen Carpenter signed ticket when I met him and seen him perform in Ventura. Thanks esp/ltd for giving us a guitar that represents the sound of my life, and Stephen thanks for everything bro.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Capt, thanks for sharing that story with us. Glad to hear there was something positive out of your truck getting stolen!

Eric W.

Here is a photo of Chino playing what I assume is the guitar posted earlier at Bottom of the Hill (SF) with Team Sleep. Sadly this guitar was smashed in 2 the next night at the Cactus Club (SJ). Was hoping to play the SC-20 at Rock the House, but didn't see one and next years SC-20 should be sunburst.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Eric, thanks for sharing that photo and story. Too bad that guitar got smashed!! We will be considering which color to release next for the SC-20, thanks for your suggestion.

Aidan W.

Hi, are these still being made? I’m looking to buy one this summer/fall but many places are listing them as out of stock or limited supply, so I’m wondering if they’re limited edition/discontinued.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Aidan, These models are limited , but there is no limitation on the number produced. They are currently available but it's likely that we will not offer this model next year.

Caleb Van Wyk

I'd KILL to own his sonic blue version of this!!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Caleb, Thanks for letting us know. I remember that sonic blue version, it was really cool!

Craig L.

I second that. The sonic blue version is basically everyone's white whale. Todd make it happen! It's time for a mid year sonic blue option! It'll prob be cheaper to make

Todd B. ESP

Hey Craig, Sounds good to me! There are no mid year releases this year (other than the 400 series with metallic fade colors), but there is always next year.

Marc O.

Is this model made in Korea or Indonesia? Thanks!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Marc, we currently make this model in Korea.

Brad H.

Is this supposed to come with a case? It says case included on this site, but mine did not come with a case?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Brad, Ask the dealer you purchased it from. We started to include cases starting this year, so it's possible your dealer sold you one from last year. Spec is the same but price is higher now because it includes case.

Brad H.

This color please!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Brad, Good pic! What's Chino doing with that guitar!!?? yes that was a cool finish. Thanks for your suggestion.

Brad H.

Any updates on other colors? 3 tone burst would rock!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Brad, No not yet.

Kyle F.

Checked it out in-store and it sounds, plays, and looks great. Selling some of my gear to make room for one of my own.

This looks like a slightly different body cut from the Horizon models he had?

Todd B. ESP

Hey Kyle, Glad you like this guitar. There is a slight difference between our LTD Horizon shape this has compared to our ESP Signature horizon shape (more arch on the ESP). Hope you can get your hands on one of these.

Kyle F.

Yep, I managed to snag one last week and I'm super happy with it!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Kyle, That's great, glad to hear it!

Jeremy M.

Such a classic Steph model! I love it! Are you guys also going to have this model in different colors in the future? I would kill to have this model in the original baby blue or white finish!

Nolan B.

because I asked a question about this but received nothing (they're  probably quite busy. ) it's a good bet that this may be a limited time run to this year only. also, the model I bought has a low range serial #, leading me to suspect that it's within the first 100 models turned out. black or green, it's amazing and if it tickles your tastes I wouldn't wait for a black one that may not ever come. it's an amazing guitar and I have been very pleasantly surprised by the the middle and neck pickups. I didn't think too much of them before it came and thought I would have some swapping to do before it was ready for live shows, but they really knocked it out of the park. it's a great guitar.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Nolan, Sorry if I missed your question earlier. We plan to keep this in the line for next year for now. Adding more colors could be cool. I wish I had gotten one of those early baby blue ones when I had the chance! Thanks for detailing how you like the sound of the HHS setup. It is rather unique. I always like the way it looked but it can get in the way for some players style.

Todd B. ESP

Hey Jeremy, Good question. Currently we're only offering the green one but it's possible we could do the other colors. Sonic Blue, Black, 3 Tone Burst and Snow White!

Kroni606

my serial number is  E069729 Black sc-500 for my steph carpenter guitar, What year was it made ? Thanks

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kroni, we made these in 2002-3003.

sensei

are there no other 6 string models for him?

Nolan B.

generally no, since he stopped using 6 strings after the white pony era. when the self titled album came, the 7 strings became the standard, though they are also amazing guitars in their own right.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Nolan, Yes that is correct. He kept asking us to add more strings! Now he has a new custom prototype 9-string....

sensei

oh i see

Todd B. ESP

Hi Sensei, This is the only current 6 string model for Stef. We made him some 6 strings many many years ago and he has since switched to 7 and 8 strings......this is a release of a model that is a replica of his original signature model from 20 years ago!

Kroni606

E069729 Black sc 500 for my steph carpenter guitar, What year was it made ? Thanks

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kroni, I replied to your other comment. This was built in 2002 or 2003.

Nolan B.

I'm just wondering guys, how long will this be available for? indefinitely or just for the 20th year?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Nolan, This guitar was just introduced this year and as of now it will continue to be available through next year although I don't see it being something that we would keep in the lineup for too many years. Stef now plays 7 and 8 strings and with different pickups so this model is more of a throw back to the early days when we first designed his original six string signature model.

Kroni606

Can you tell me what years the original steph Carpenter sc 500 and sc 600 6 string models were made ?

I think my sc 500 is from 2006 the seroial start with E06? From looking at the serial number

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kroni606, The SC-500 were available between 2001-2002. The SC-600 were available between 2003 - 2006. Your serial number does not correspond to a year with the first 2 digits, but it should fall in the range listed above.

Kroni606

The serial number is

E069729 Black sc 500

Todd B. ESP

Hi Kroni, We can't date it exactly but your guitar should have been made in 2002 or 2003.

Chavi D.

It's amazing, I'm really glad you got this anniversary guitar, I was looking for it used because I thought it would not come out again.

Dubb

I remember liking this guitar many years back when I was a kid, growing up listening to the deftones. I'm excited to see it in production again! Definitely one of my favorite styles of guitars and that pickup layout just makes it look vicious! Will it be available in gloss black finish also?
