I truly love the block inlays... I absolutely hate the flag inlays.  They look so much like an after thought or a failed creative idea.  I wish that ESP would get away from them to be honest.  Block inlays just look more uniform with the block shaped fret shapes.  I'm half tempted to buy this guitar because of the block inlays alone.  Downside for me is the bridge pickup missing.  Last night I just bought the LTD Blue Natural Fade EC-1000.  If it had Block inlays mother of purl with a small abalone strip in the middle it would have taken the beauty of that guitar to a whole new level. I'll most likely have to send it to a luthier to block out those flags and create the inlay I just described.  Honestly I'd love to see a pole by ESP to it's more loyal fans on which inlays to use block vs flag.

I wish they'd put the baritone version of this (@8:30 ) into production

Todd B. ESP

Hi, thanks for sharing that. pretty cool guitar.

I love my LTD's But truth be told if its not from Korea im not really willing to pay the money.

Todd B. ESP

Hi, Thanks for letting us know how you feel. We understand where you're coming from however we would urge you to try an ESP LTD model that is made outside of Korea. We always do our best to ensure the quality of our instruments are the best they can be no matter where we manufacture them.

Curtis H.

Mines from Korea and has poor binding in places and aged hardware. All of them in the store were like this so Korea isn't the be all and end all. It sounds amazing though so pick your battles I guess.

Martin J.

Hey ... U writing here its made in sourh korea but i heard its in indonesia and heard a lot of stuff about unfinished frets and volume knob failing off and so on.... that was like 2 years ago.. I want this guitar , but does it change something since those times? Like it is really in South Korea right now ? And Frets and knob everything is cool?

Looking into buying my second ESP and would love if this featured a full thickness non chambered body like Neil's ESP, maybe some day...looks like a nice one.

Dean J.

Is there anywhere for us to formally request the wine red version of this guitar? I (and quite a few other people I know of) would really dig that!

Carl N.

Since this is a signature model it would be up to the artist to determine any specification changes to this model.  Though you could always request one to be built by our custom shop, just visit an ESP dealer to submit your request for a quote.

Dean J.

Oh my mistake: it would be a second guitar, not a change to this one. He has a baritone version of this guitar in the wine red finish. 27.7 inch scale and bare knuckle juggernaut pickup rather than the aftermath. Many people are interested! This is as of last night on Neil's twitch stream. We really wanted to show that there was definite interest from fans, many of which who already have the white version and would be interested in the baritone version as well! Thanks for your time!

Jim G.

Getting ready to pull the trigger on an NW44. Have an E2 eclipse now and absolutely love it. Concerned about the Indonesian built NW not feeling as high quality but I love the scale and the simplicity of itand dying to try the Aftermath pickup. Any feedback from others? Also the stock strings are way lighter than Neil’s not even slinkies. Will the nut accept these without modification?

Carl N.

E-II instruments will be of a higher quality than LTD instruments regardless of what country they are made in, though they will still be great instruments.  Whenever you change string gauges it would be a good idea to have your nut modified to accommodate the change.

i purchased the NW44 couple months back and my version is built in Korea. Great guitar, the feel, the look, & the aftermath sounds awesome. The only thing I’ve done to it is added a bone nut & had it set up for a Drop C.

1000 Pounds of Thrust Guitar

I recently purchased one of these. I've been playing Eclipses since 1997. This is the nicest Eclipse I've ever owned (over 10). I put a gold knurled dome knob on it, changed the pickup ring to gold and put a - by ESP - truss rod cover on it, and I LOVE IT!!! I highly recommend this guitar. IT plays and feels AMAZING! Oh yeah, I'm an EMG diehard but I do love the sound of this pickup. However, the volume knob dynamics thing mentioned above has some truth to it. This exact guitar should be added to the EC line in other finishes and colors. IMHO

1000 Pounds of Thrust Guitar

I have to add, I love 1 humbucker Eclipses (hence my comment about it being added to the EC line above) and the neckthrough is incredibly buttery.

Carl N.

Cool, thanks for sharing

Yvan G.

Hello,

May you please mention the weight of this NW-44 guitar in comparison to a EC-1000 BLK EMG for example ?

Also do you plan to pursue the manufacture of this guitar in 2020 ?...

thanks in advance.

Carl N.

Hey Yvan, Eclipse instruments will be about 8-9lbs and yes, it is 2020 and we are pursuing the manufacture of this guitar.

Ricardo A.

You guys should put this guitar on Sweetwater

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ricardo, Please ask Sweetwater to stock this guitar if they don't have it. They can purchase it from us, but they decide what items they will carry.

Ricardo A.

Is it true that next year you will be releasing a different version of this guitar?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ricardo, We do not have a different version of this guitar for next year.

Justin F.

Yeah dude I just sent a message to my rep asking if they were going to get this.

Ben L.

Hi ESP! Does this guitar have stainless steel or nickel frets? Thanks!

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ben, These are standard nickel steel frets, not stainless.

Dominic Uccelli

I hope that if this does well enough it will cause the company to look into doing more production eclipses in 25.5" scale.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Dominic, Thanks for your suggestion.

Josh M.

Any plans to make a production version of his Baritone?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Josh M, Not at this time but we'll take it under consideration. Thanks for your suggestion.

Dean J.

I second this! His wine red baritone would be a DREAM. Is there anywhere we can submit a formal request?

Jim G.

The baritone version would be a killer addition! Totally agree!

Striped Socks

Just got one a few days ago! It's now my main guitar for my doom/stoner projects. Excellent quality, feel, and above all the sound is top notch. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews of this guitar is magazines or online!

Todd B. ESP

Hey Striped Socks, thanks for posting your review. That's excellent! We're happy to hear how much you like your new guitar!

ian d.

tested a new song with this guitar that I wrote for a band i'm part of and it shreds

Dean J.

Just got this guitar in the mail. I love it! A few things:

The bare knuckle pickup RIPS. Best pickup I've ever played.

Love the scale length, string tension is quite comfortable.

Setup was nice with low action right from the box.

A few downsides (really not with the concept of the guitar, but just some quality care type stuff)

I did not realize this guitar was made in Indonesia and not Korea. I guess I just assumed Korea given the price. My Korean made ec-1000 feels like a higher quality piece of wood, personally.

The volume knob scrapes the body of the guitar. Easy fix, I just pulled it up slightly on the peg.

I like the shape of the frets, but it showed up with quite a bit of excess glue on them/on the fretboard. Again, not a huge deal.

The only thing that really got me was a pretty good gash on the 24th fret. It doesn't affect playability I suppose, I guess I just expected more with it being a brand new guitar. Is this type of stuff due to it being made in Indonesia?

Robert H.

So I got my NW-44 in the mail today and there's a few noticeable things right out of the box. There's noticeable pen marks on the nut, and a a blackish blemish on the side of the nut. Also the tailpiece has a very faded golded corner to the point where it goes completely chrome. The last really noticeable issue is the volume knob has about 3 points where it changes sound. At 0 theres no sound, at 1 it's quiet, but at around 2-3 it just goes straight to max volume. Not sure if this is on ESP's end or if it's a pickup issue as I have no experience with bare knuckle pickups. Overall I am pleased with the guitar, it's just a few things keeping it from perfect. Hopefully nobody else has these issues! PICS included below!

Maxwell Liam

I noticed the exact same thing with my pickup. Its a nice pickup, but there doesn't seem to be much dynamic. Is that just how hot the pickup is?

Maxwell Liam

Bought one. Just waiting for it. I have been blown away by the quality of the E ii eclipse I recently acquired in a trade for a Gibson LP I had. I’ve been a Gibson guy my entire career, but these instruments are making me rethink that.

Brian C.

A full thickness body will be cool! Maybe the wine red version if this one does okay? Pleaaaase?!!
