The LTD 400 Series is designed with the professional performing and recording musician in mind, but is available at a price that even casual players can afford. With the MH-400B, you get a monster 27” baritone scale guitar with neck-thru-body construction. We’ve switched over to a direct-mount setup of its EMG 81/85 active pickup set, and added them to this guitar’s already-great features that include Grover tuners, a mahogany body, a fast three-piece maple neck with 24-fret pau ferro fingerboard, and a TOM bridge with string-thru-body design.

Alejandro Z.

Hi ESP. I found this guitar look very similar to the AJ-1 model (that i know it is no longer available), reading the comments i understand that the distance and type of pick ups it is because the baritone scale. It's interesting to have the baritone option, but I'm still looking the way to get an AJ-1, any plans to reissue?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Alejandro, There are no plans to issue the AJ-1, but you might be able to find one used or still available because they were only discontinued recently (last year).

Remi V.

im sorry but what is a bariton?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Remi, A baritone is an extended scale length and lower tuning. This guitar has a 27" scale which is 1.5" longer than a standard scale guitar. And the tuning is tuned down to B-E-A-D-F#-B, so it's like removing the high E string of a regular tuned guitar and adding a low B, then tuned like a regular guitar tuning but starting with a low B instead of an E String. Hope that helps.

andre a.

Please a non baritone version, it would make all of us happy!

Tom D.

I agree dude. Non baritone version of this guitar would be awesome! We can only dream

Todd B. ESP

Hi Andre, thanks for that suggestion.

Ryan V.

I ordered this guitar but mine has no body binding and a 2019 serial number, did the model change?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ryan, It's possible we had a production run produced without binding. However the current specs on the website are correct. Please always reach out to our customer service team should you need any assistance. here is our email:  customerservice@espguitars.com

Todd B. ESP Looks like you are correct:
Thank you for contacting ESP / Takamine Guitars Customer Service. We appreciate you reaching out to us, and apologize for the delay in response, as we had to investigate this matter further.  This instrument should include binding as shown in the stock photograph, but it seems like a few of these were made with the incorrect specifications that made it to dealers.  We apologize for the confusion.  We can exchange this instrument if you wish.  Please provide your full name and shipping information, along with a copy of your original purchase receipt if you wish to take this route.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Todd B. ESP

Hi Ryan, glad you got in touch with our customer service team.

Hi Charles, Thanks. We will make a note of that. We are not able to offer all models in LH, but we do select some every year to add as LH models.
