Is it possible to purchase an anodized aluminum diamond plate top for this guitar?
Just like the ones used on a LTD EX400BD.

Unfortunately these were not sold separately from the instruments they came equipped on.

What is the quality difference, if any, from the LTD EC-1000?  I own an FX Japanese model and it’s my main guitar but I haven’t had any luck finding another. I did however see one of these in Sam Ash the other day and it got me wondering about that. I guess it’s the number (401 series) that has me wondering.

Carl N.

Hey Billy, different series of instruments will be made with differing qualities of parts and equipment.  Tuners, hardware, and woods used on 1000 series instruments can be seen as an upgrade from 400 series models.  If you saw this in a store recently I'd recommend checking it out for yourself, you could listen to what I have to say all day but in the end it will be your tastes and preferences that dictate how you feel about the quality of an instrument.

Thank you for the quick response.

I do what I can

What’s the difference between the EX-401 and the EX-200

Carl N.

Hey Max, about $300!

Besides the construction differences, these will have different hardware along with electronics.  While they may seem like subtle differences, the 401 will have an increase in overall quality which can be felt when comparing the two side by side.  Either are good choices, just depends on your level of playing and budget.

Hi Jani, Thanks for your suggestions.

Elliot P.

Hi, I recently purchased a used ltd 401, but it is a little different than the one here. It has a floyd rose special bridge, an the pickups are emgs and i'm not sure which ones  but they certainly aren't the 81 and the 60. It also say ex-401 on the 12th fret and not on the headstock. Is this how they used to be designed and if so can you tell me which pickups they are, or were these modifications made by the previous owner?

Todd B. ESP

Hi Elliot, sounds like you may have purchased an older model when we used to offer this shape with a Floyd bridge. Probably has the 81/85 combo we used before as well as the model name in the 12th fret. If you want to check anything else please email our customer service team and they can assist you, but sounds like it is the way we produced it. Be sure to provide serial number and pictures for their reference. here is their email: customerservice@espguitars.com
