NOTE: Due to ongoing challenges in the global supply chain, instruments purchased from ShopESP that are not currently in stock may take an extended time frame to be delivered.

Few guitar players of the world merit as much respect as Alex Skolnick. Originally gaining fame as the teenage phenomenon holding down guitar duties for Bay Area thrashers Testament, Alex has gone on to tackle multiple musical genres, including sophisticated jazz playing in his Alex Skolnick Trio. The AS-1FR takes Alex's original design and adds a Floyd Rose bridge for expressive performances. This traditional shape belies its contemporary set of tools that include a set-thru, U-shaped mahogany neck for smooth access all the way up and down the fingerboard. Its sound is powered with an excellent set of Seymour Duncan '59 (neck) and JB (bridge) pickups. Its flexible controls include individual volume knobs for each pickup, a tone control with push-pull access to split the neck pickup coil, and a pickup selector toggle. Other high-end components include Dunlop straplok and Grover tuners. The Alex Skolnick LTD AS-1 comes in Black Aqua Sunburst translucent finish over its figured flamed maple top.

Hello, are these still crafted in Korea?

Todd B. ESP

We are currently manufacturing this model in Korea. However, we constantly monitor production standards at our various factories in Asia where we produce LTD models. Should we determine that a certain facility is capable of manufacturing an instrument to ESP's required standard or better, we may decide to shift production, or in some cases share production of a model, wherever that factory may be located. The guitar should be of excellent quality regardless of where it's made, and it will have passed our own quality assurance testing.

If you have any questions not answered on our product page, please contact ESP Customer Service at customerservice@espguitars.com

Is this guitar Full Thickness? Thanks in advance!

Todd B. ESP

Thanks for your question. It is a full thickness body. We've updated this in the spec, thanks for pointing this out!

ScottyJ-Rocker

Please offer this model in more colors! Black, Tobacco Burst, Iced-Tea Burst or Wine Red/Burgundy stain are a few ideas!

Carl N.

thanks for the insight!

ScottyJ-Rocker

Thanks Carl. Please consider different colors. This could be a huge competitor to the Axcess which is 4-5x the cost!

Hello there... I saw some review online where the blue LTD is different than this one...  There is more blue in the body (Looks more like the ESP Version)... I want to know if the ones you deliver now is this one from the picture or the one with more blue?

Also when the paint changed in this version?  Thanks and cheers

Carl N.

While all of these instruments would be painted with the same color there can be variations within finished instruments, you should also take into account that instruments can appear differently when photographed  vs in person.  There was no change to the finish of this instrument.
