There are quite good modelling amps out there I'd take over any solid states but yeah tubes...recommend checking out the blind challenge on Chapman's youtube channel for this

i think it depends on the sound your going for however i think for portability soild state

Can't really vote on this one, really it depends on the guitarist's weekly buget. yeah, tube head's are great and all, but blow a tube and they're expencive to replace. Stay the hell away from Digital amps though, learnt that the hard way when i bought a Spider IV
