the above description describes me pretty well.  I can play, not as good as a lot of players, but can hold my own.

Hi peeps!

1 step) teach yourself to play the phrygian scale.

2 step) let the e string ring

3 step) play the phrygian scale

4 step) play the phrygian scale, but replacing the diminished third which makes it a minor tonality, with a major third

5 step) be amazed.

Joey Spirito

5th mode of the harmonic minor. I dig it.

Hello you all out there,

just wanted to say hello from Hungary, Europe, playing guitars from the age of 14.

Joey Spirito

Dope! Never talked to someone out ther. Welcome! You should point us in a direction of the big tunes out there. Def want to check it out

Joey Spirito

Btw learn Hungarian and whole tone scales. Those add just another flavor to shred to. The more you expand the more epic you become.

Eet Fuk

Haven't even heard about Hungarian tone scales  :) But now i'll check it out

Joey Spirito

Yeah man they are a weird scale. If you know your natural minor scale. Sharp the 4th and the 7th and bam. Hungarian minor. If you have ever heard of Metallica, the riff after the chromatic sequence is Hungarian minor if you want to play around with it in an already established song =]

Joey Spirito

Hello everyone! I see we have members! Great news! Well you guys know what your path is on guitar so I'll make this short and sweet. What exactly do you need to know? I can help with techniques, exotic scales for all you metal heads, and anything else. If I can't show you ill find someone who can. Help me help you. What do you need to know???

Nicolas V.

I'd love all the help I can get. I love playing fast riffs using the harmonic scales. is there anyway you an make my shredding even cooler?

Joey Spirito

well if you already have those down i would suggest getting good chord structures under your belt. not just simple major and minor. if you already have those, best thing to do is get a mesa boogie amp. those make everything more epic.
