EMG 89 & EMG 89 set up...

Updated
Mr. Wicked
I had a guitar tech install 2 EMG 89's in my guitar... He has it to where it is 2 volumes instead of a volume & tone. I set the guitar in bridge position & it sounds like a neck pickup. I switch it to the neck pickup & there is a slight difference. Switching to bridge position, I turned the neck volume down & kept the bridge up & I don't hear anything unless I turn the neck volume up. However switched to neck position, I turn the bridge volume down & have the neck up & I can hear the neck. What did he do wrong & how can this be fixed?

Any pics of the cavity?

The cap confuses me. Yeah, there definitely is not supposed to be a cap between pots. I'm no guitar tech, but that is some sloppy wire routing and soldering.

Best bet is to tell the tech that it is wired incorrectly. Explain to him what it does, or better yet, show him what it does. He should not charge to fix it. Be nice, then when it is fixed CORRECTLY, never go to him again and tell your friends to avoid him.

What did you want? Does up/down do single/hum?

If you have two independent volumes there should be no cap.

I like to have it set for up on the knob is single & down is humbucker.
