NGD! ESP MX-II... x2!
NGD! ESP MX-II... x2!
Back in February, a friend and I decided to take the plunge and get in contact with ESP through the 'Big Boss' shop in Ochanomizu, Toyko.
We made the decision to custom order an MX-II each. As can be seen from the pictures below, they are ever so slightly inspired by a certain well known guitar...
The rosewood boards and bone nuts are nice touches, as is the lack of 'ashtray' on the back. No new 'custom shop' logos either. Just need to sort out truss rod covers!
Having played them, they are simply incredible. Totally flawless and play/sound amazing! Delighted!
Anyway, enough talk - here are some pictures!

How would you be able to identify that numerical part, out of curiosity?
I know that the following parameters seem to be in place:
- E (for ESP) / ES (for E-II)
- XXXX (four digit number - this is the bit I am not familiar with)
- XX (2 digit number denoting build year)
- 1 (Custom Shop - assuming the old 'N' designation) / 2 (Tokyo Shop - assuming the old 'K' designation) / 3 (Standard Series build)
How did they get away with getting Het's exact inlays? Especially the way they are sized? I know you can custom order the guitar, but they would have had to provide ESP a new template to do these inlays, unless they actually dug up James' actual inlay design/sizing to do these special. Here's a site for the bell truss rod covers

Like I said before....They don't make MX's anymore...here they are
They don't use rosewood anymore (due to CITES)...here they are
Walk in to big boss and have a chat
Wrong and wrong. They DO make custom MX's and you CAN get them with rosewood fretboards. They won't do the inlays tho. Say all you want, these inlays aren't legit. That's why HateEvent hasn't chimed in or mentioned them.

Negative.
They will no longer be taking orders unless they know they will not leave JP and you must not be on the ESP newsletter regarding rosewood as when my brother collected these he was told that rosewood will be for special customers only (artists)..
I ordered these , i have the order forms at home
HateEvent is not answering as he is too busy playing his MX that he has always wanted through his mesa mark amp with the bass thumping so hard he has piles.
These were supposed to have a barrel jack and step heel but the day after they were ordered when finalising everything for the deposit we decided that there was no point as although would look more like an MX220 , we both liked my MX250 SW enough not to bother hence the bone nut, rosewood and no cover . They don't have any bell covers and the cost for them to make one was insane lol.
You have an 80's EET FUK , stop bitchin! ... or sell it for cheap.... to me!
Nice, and congrats on the new guitars.
