NGD: 1993 ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Neckthru Reverse Moon and Stars Inlays

NGD: 1993 ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Neckthru Reverse Moon and Stars Inlays

AWESOME SCORE!!!!

Original 1993 ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Neckthru Reverse Moon and Stars Inlays

This is not a "regular" first production Ouija, this one is the OUIJA HOLY GRAIL, closest thing to Kirk´s original Ouija.VERY RARE.This is the only one known, beside Kirk´s 2 of his own.2 more were said to be done, but one of them happend to be this same guitar in hands of an old owner and the other one in Mexico is clearly a "copy".Differences are: neck-through construction, exact reverse islamic flag inlays, different neck profile, different finish, different knobs position....this one is the REAL DEAL!

5 total neckthru reverse inlays Ouijas (including Kirk's two) were said to exist, but after some research I can affirm that one that is in Mexico is not from 1993, and is quite different (custom order with reverse inlays, but the inlays are not like Kirk´s original or Mine, the inlays are like the regular Ouijas, bigger and the moons are more "closed", different headstock signature, beside other differences). Alex from Guitarscollector, great specialist, affirms that one is a fake.

Anyway, I only know existence of this one from the original 1993 production, with correct reverse Moon and Stars Inlays, neck-through, etc, I´ve never seen the other one that is said to exist or have knowledge of anyone owning any of them.

Another dream come true in my guitar collection!!!!!

I will tell more about this concrete guitar later, as well as about some Ouija research I've done.

This is the guitar I want more than any other - sick score! Love it!

What a week!!

Man that one with the incorrect inlays sounds like mine from 1995. It was like a half crescent with dots instead of stars but they faces the correct reverse way. Double dots at the 24th. I bet that is my original custom order from late 1994/very early 95. I received the guitar Jan of 1996 and paid for it using my college financial aid check   I remember selling it to a young kid in the Chicago area, possibly Mexican, in like 1998 I believe, maybe 99. Do you have any pics of it? i remember I paid around $1895 for it max. I wanna say I sold it in the $1K - $1400 range. It's been like 20 years.

BTW the original glow in the dark paint never glowed on mine thought it looked like it should have. The color was very similar to my 2009 Ouija.

The one in Mexico have stars inlays, but as I said, the moons are like the standard  Ouijas, bigger and more "closed moons", though they are reversed.

No mine were "less closed." Very much so.

Congrats man! Looks like another one from Erick's collection. What, is he cleaning house lol? It's good to see it end up with another forum member though. Congrats again!

ESPEXP

Congrats on the guitar!! Definately a rarity! I assume you got this from Berik as well?! He was the only one I knew that had one of these.

Guiguitarz

Rick ... You're the man ... Congrats on that one !!!!

Yep, this one came from Berik. He wanted to sell part of his collection and I took my chances.

As far as I know, this is the only neck thru Ouija "tracked", along with the one from Mexico, which is different as I said, even different neck profile, inlays, etc.

The neck in mine is just awesome, very different from original Ouija, slimmer, clear coated and FAST, very high quality neck and rosewood.

Overall, you can tell it is far superior in construction/finish than a regular Ouija. And I can say this because I've owned 5 of them.More like the 2009 Ouija, but when all the cool specs from Kirk's original.

ESPEXP

Awesome!! Yea for sure. Hate to see his collection being dismantled but good to see its going to someone on the forum. Congrats again! Anymore plans? lol

ESP 348

Awesome guitar, congrats again and enjoy mate.

Pushead

Wow again.

Lewis_08

Sweet baby kirk!

Pushead

I will say that I have some reservations about the jorts. Somehow his collection makes up for it.

Breadfan32

Congrats!

Was this the Ouija from Mexico you were referring too?

Seems to be the only truly 'correct' Ouija in existence with Kirk's full signature on the headstock, glow in the dark body paint, reverse moon inlays, neck-thru and no spelling error.

Yes, this is the Ouija I was talking about, but you are wrong, that one is not "correct", it is not like Kirk's or mine. I know the owner, I was talking with him somedays ago comparing both Ouijas.

I was going to pass this info to my friend Alex from Guitars Collector, and also post same in my web page, but I will post some info here as well.Very relevant information

I also have pics, but if you pay attention to the video you will see that:

- The inlays are different from Kirk's original and mine. The moons are bigger, more closed, just like the regular Ouijas, but reversed.Kirk's original, the other one he was given by ESP and that he gave to his friend Dan and mine have the same inlays, slimmer moons, less closed.

- Very important detail: look at the knobs placement. It is not like Kirk's original Ouija or mine, in that one a knob is placed in the "1" Ouija drawinf, covering it, and the other two knobs are also in different positions.Mine is identically to Kirk's.

- Also, neck profile is different from Kirk's original and mine, is more like the "regular" Ouija profile, but with glossy finish.Mine has "glow in the dark paint", like Kirk's.This one seems to have too.No one except Kirk's have the spelling mistake.

- An obvious difference is Kirk's full signature in the headstock...that makes me suspicious, because the guitar doesn't have many of Kirk's original Ouija details...and is very easy for any luthier to reproduce that signature, so, either a previous owner put it there, either was a custom requirement to the Custom Shop, because that is not for sure a counterfeit, it is a legit ESP guitar, but it is a "transition" model, made way later than 1993, probably same years than regular Ouijas production, as it comes with regular Ouijas moon inlays, but reversed.

- Neither Kirk's originals or mine have the EMG logo in the pickup, they were full painted. This one is not, have the EMG logo in the pickups, and comes with two 85 pickups instead of 81.Also Kirk's original doesn't have the ESP CUSTOM logo in the back of the headstock, as well as mine.

I also have a couple details more that Kirk's original and mine have in common and this one has not, but I'm gonna keep that for me, as I don't want such details to be known and someone can make a "perfect" counterfeit.

You can check everything I've said from the video, but, most important thing is that I have detailed pictures of Kirk's original Ouija as well as the other one he gave to Dan.I even have pictures of bith guitar together (Kirk is also in the pics). That pictures are TOTALLY CONFIDENTIAL, so don't ask me to post them here because I will not, but I can affirm my Ouija is exactly as Kirk's except for the headstock full signature and the spelling error.

The one is Mexico is quite different for all the exposed above plus some other details

I can definitely confirm is not one of the originals Ouija batch similiar to Kirk's original, but probably a later custom shop order.

Nice score, Ricky

Can't wait to read all the research you have made..
