    Active pickup battery life/status...

    I just got the EC 1000 ET BB and it's my first guitar with active pickups. 

    How will I know when the battery needs to be changed? Is there an indicator, or will it just die (no volume)?

    As the voltage lowers, you'll notice the sound starts to clip, even on a clean sound. It will also sound very squashed or compressed.

    But you should get tons of time before a new battery dies (I think the website says 2-300 hours?). Just unplug the guitar when you're done playing, and you'll be fine.
